This week we’re moving past Fat and looking at some Tat. I did a post on Glyos a while back. It’s one of the two ‘toys’ I still collect. It’s been a while since I made a Glyos purchase but when I saw the dude above I had to have it. Let me tell you why.
What you’re looking at is a Varteryx Keytrius. It’s a mix of upgrade parts, original bits, and a cool new head. In the base form it very much emulates a Battle Beast, although not as much as an Armovor (which I haven’t been able to pick up yet).
What makes this guy so cool is that it’s more than one figure. It comes with enough parts to make 1 of 3 base builds and for you to customize as you see fit. When you add a few extra bits things can get very interesting, but I’ll get to that in a bit. Let’s see exactly what this guy can do.
First, we have the Neo Sarvos build. This utilizes the Glayaromor, the bits on the legs, arms, and chest, to create a cool armored alien look. In this configuration you have an aggressive little dude that’s up for anything.
If you strip off the Glyarmor, switch the upper arm/leg parts, and use the third head you get a classic Sarvos the unarmored version of the above build. This guy is much sleeker but oozes character.
What’s great about Glyos though is the customization options. This toy line is made to create with. You can take the base figures apart, and add in bits from different figures as well as add ons. When you do that you can come up with some very cool things.
This build is based on, stolen from, one I saw on the Glyos forum. He’s a beefy poseable little guy. I used one Varteryx Keytrius, two matching axis joints, and some old black axis joints. I really love how this guy looks. The rounded lines work well with the bird head. I call him ‘Asirius’.
Here is Asirius about to go into battle.
He needs a weapon.
He could use the Cledge, a mighty and vicious weapon.
But what is awaiting him may requite something more.
Yes, something more.
There is another weapon in his arsenal. One that is harder to wield but much more devastating. Yes, the Staff of Asirian, will be perfect.
This ages old weapon, handed down to the greatest warrior of his race will serve him well. With it he will cleave through hordes of his enemies. Blood will be spread and the day won. When the suns set Asirian will stand above a field of carrion. His sharp eyes taking in the horror of battle. Asirian will stand proud, not of the death he caused but of the honor he has wrought.
I said it had been a while since my last Glyos purchase, probably close to a year, so what got me back in? It was actually the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mega Bloks blind bags. Crazy right? Well, if you check out that post here, you’ll see a picture with the Turtles facing off against some Cryboths. Messing with those little dudes again rekindled my interest, which never really died, in Glyos. Once that happened I had to have a fix.
Tonight there is a new drop happening. In fact it will be a few minutes away by the time this is posted. I’ll be there looking to score a few new pieces. You should do the same.
