It’s Independence day! That’s cool, but you know what? Freedom can only go so far. Take for instance this post. I may live in the land of the Free, but dammit if I’m not still a slave to Scooby Doo. And let me tell you that dog is a harsh master. So, before he cracks the leash (Can you crack a leash?) let’s get into today’s movie. Big Top Scooby-Doo!

I’ll be going offline again soon, most likely, so I’m going to do my best to get a full week’s worth of updates. Starting with a Scooby Doo review. This week we have “Sccoby-Doo! Music of the Vampire”.  No time to waste so let’s get right to the review.

Hey, been a while. I missed what, like 4 posts? The month is pretty much half over and this is probably going to the first of, at most, 5 posts. That can't be helped. Well let's put my lack of a consistent schedule to the side and get to the meat of today's meal. It's Wednesday, which means it's time for some writing updates. Let's get to this weeks "Tales From a Roving Mind". That really is an ostentatious title for a simple writing journal isn't it? Whatever. On to the post!

Tales From A Roving Mind

This week I want to talk about giving characters distinct voices. It’s a very difficult but important part of writing. Making your characters read like different, unique individuals should be everyone’s goal.  I’ve been trying to achieve this, but… well just click below to see if I’ve had any success.

It’s been a while since the last Scooby movie, hasn’t it? Yeah. Sorry about that. No excuses. But I’m back with the next in the series. One that I really liked. No reason to wait any longer let’s jump to it.

I wasn't sure what to do this week. It was time for an edition of "Awful Fat Guy of the Week" but I didn't have any one in mind. Then I saw something, two things actually, at Target and my mind was made up. This isn't a post about one person, it's a post about a type of person. This week I'll be looking at two types of Fat Guys (people) that don't how to respect the Fat.

Time for another installment of "Tales From a Roving Mind". This week I have no idea what I'm going to talk about. What you find after the jump, is going to be as much of a surprise to me as it will be to you. Let's see what kind of shit I pull out of my ass together. Meet you after the break.

Here’s something only fat kids will understand. Every kid, who lives where McDonalds are available, dreams about a Happy Meal. Food, that’s bad for you, and a toy? What’s not to love? But as a fat kid you don’t really want a Happy Meal. You want the toy and an adult portion of food. I would get a 6 piece nuggets and a large fries, in a Happy Meal bag with the toy.  This didn’t happen all that often, McDonalds is actually pretty expensive.  I only remember a few times. One of them, or the toy at least, stands out in my memory. Today I’m going to take a look at those fun bits of plastic.

Broken promises. Today I want to talk about broken promises. As an amateur writer, one who is not beholden to anything other than your own will, you find yourself making and breaking promises to yourself. Or at least I do. That’s what today’s edition of “Tales From a Roving Mind” is about. Let’s get to it.

The last edition of the ‘Pull List’ pulled some good numbers for me. I guess Godzilla is a big draw. Sadly no giant lizards this week. Instead we have a few follow up issues to series I started reading thanks to this feature. So let's take a look at dogs in prison, burn victims, and moon shiners facing supernatural threats. To the shelves!

After a long, very long, time ‘Awesome Fat Guy of the Week’ is back. This week I’m pulling from the world of comedy, a veritable bastion of Fat Guys, and talking about Ron Funches. A soft spoken funnyman with an infectious smile.

This week on “Tales from a Roving Mind” I’ll be talking about fear, and giving a general progress report.

This week we’re moving past Fat and looking at some Tat. I did a post on Glyos a while back. It’s one of the two ‘toys’ I still collect. It’s been a while since I made a Glyos purchase but when I saw the dude above I had to have it. Let me tell you why.

It’s time for the next installment of “Tales From a Roving Mind”. This week it’s all about expectations. Or to be more blunt, what you expect to write and what you end up with instead.

This week’s Scooby movie did something few of those movies have. It doesn’t spoon feed you who the bad guy is. For a good part of this movie I had no idea who the villian was. How often does that happen? Let’s see what else this movie did right and if it did anything wrong.

This Friday is the first installment of ‘Awful Fat Guy of the Month’. I did a post in the past that highlighted a pretty awful fat guy (I referred to him as a Big Bad Man) but this is now going to be a regular monthly feature. You can check out the older post here.

On this week's Pull List we have a giant Lizard, and other things. But mainly the Giant Lizard.

The last time I did one of these posts I ended it by saying a had come to a standstill. There was a choice I had to make before I could continue with the story. This week I’ll go over that and more.

Time to get back to the Scooby-Doo franchise. This week I’ll be taking a look at the first animated movie to feature Matthew Lillard in the role of Shaggy.

Before I went offline I had a schedule. Monday was for media reviews, movies and the like. Tuesday was for tat, stupid useless things like toys. Wednesday was for web based reviews. Thursday was about weird news. And Friday was all about Fat Guys. Awesome Fat Guys to be exact. Things have changed. Monday is still about media but Wednesday is now for writing, but what about Friday? Starting this week Friday will be about Fat or Tat. 'Awesome Fat Guy of the Week' will be returning along with a new series 'Awful Fat Guy of the Week'. Those two will be alternating with random Tat reviews. This Friday I’ll be talking about Mini Figs, which fall under the Tat part of “Fat or Tat“. 

On this edition of Media Monday I have a new edition of Pull List, which will be on Mondays from now on, for you. And this is a long one.  Quick primer. I write each review right after reading the issue and their will be spoilers.

Years ago (God, I can’t believe it’s been that long), I did a post that was nothing but pictures of Fat Guys with me proving how awesome those men were. You can see it here. It is the most viewed post on this blog. I decided to do a bit of a sequel to it. Except a little different.  Instead of talking about men like the one pictured above, look at that Dapper Mother Fucker, I’ll be working the other side of the coin. Welcome to the first Awful Fat Guy edition of Fat Friday. 

Time for another Writing Journal. I really need to come up with a clever title for these posts. I’m normally very good at that. I guess things change. To the task at hand. Let’s delve deeper into my Untitled Story.

This week I’ll be looking at the last Scooby-Doo movie to feature Casey Kasem in the role of Shaggy. This is a movie with Samurai, Dragons, and Japanese School Girls.

It’s time for the next installment of, this still unnamed, series. This week I’ll be talking about the antagonist/villains of the story. The Brotherhood of the Great Tree.

This week we look at a very different Scooby movie. “Scooby-Doo! And the Goblin King” isn’t you run of the mill Scooby story. Click on to see just how different it is.

Time to talk about my writing again. This week I’ll be talking characters.

It’s been a while since my last “Scooby-Doo!” post. This is mostly because I’m lazy and these posts don’t bring in many, any, hits. There is another reason though. I was doing five movies at a time. And it just so happened that the first of the next set of five was a very hard movie to talk about.  So I’m just going to do that movie in this post to get past it. Years ago I made a post about Rubber Band Guns. You can read it here. Now seems like a good time to do a bit of an update on that subject. Which means this is the first Tat post of the new year and since my return.

Last week I started my Writing Journal. It's time for my next entry.

I really want to make this Blog into a success. As such I've been keeping a close eye on the hits each of the posts I've made since my return have gotten. I'm not impressed. Sadly, the wrestling posts have gotten the least. As such, it isn't worth my time or energy to continue with them. Which is too bad.They were very easy and fun to write. Oh well. On to new subjects.

I'm a Comic Book guy. I've loved Comics since I was a kid. But about three maybe four years ago I dropped out of them. Recently I've started to, slowly, get reacquainted with that love. I thought it would be a good, or at least fun, idea to document my attempts to get back into the hobby. So this is the first, in an ongoing series, about that. I'll think of a cool title for it later.

I know I said I wasn't going to watch Raw anymore, and I meant it, but I couldn't ignore this. So. On this week's Raw the prodigal son returns.

On this installment of ROH two pasty white guys get killed.

This week’s Smackdown has Michael Cole on commentary instead of Mauro Renallo. I almost skipped it because of that.

When I first started this blog I planned on using it as a way to talk about a myriad of things. Whatever my mind was occupied with would become fodder for it. Hence the name Roving Mind. Since I came back I've focused mainly on Scooby-Doo (those reviews will be resuming soon) and wrestling. It's time I branch out again. So today I will be talking about a story I'm working on.

Instead of doing  one huge weekly wrestling recap I've decided to throw these reaction posts up after I've seen each show. That way they'll be easier to load, easier to read, and easier for me get up in a timely fashion. The first show of the week is ROH. So without further ado let's get to it.

I watched the Grammys last night. I'm not big on award shows. They are all too long and bloated, with the exception of the Tony Awards which are usually fun. The Grammys didn't change my mind. I want to Take a moment, a very short moment, and talk about a few of the performances.

I wanted to get this post out on Saturday but that didn't happen. Which means I am officially talking about shit that happened last week. So much for getting caught up. Oh well. Let's get started.

Yesterday was a sad day to be a wrestling fan. I would go so far as to say that this whole week, and maybe month, will be sad for any fan of Professional Wrestling.

Last week was a different story. After this week I'll  be caught up. So let's get to it.

I was off line for most of last week. That is something that will probably happen every month. Nothing I can do about it. But I plan on catching up with all of the wrestling I missed. So this post is every thing from the last week of January. Including the much anticipated return of Lucha Underground.

It's Monday. That means Scooby-Doo! Time to check out the next 5 Scooby movies.

I've been falling into the habit of doing recaps. That wasn't my goal. I really only wanted to talk about the things that interested me and not the entire show. I'm really going to try to stick with that this week.

It has been a long time. Years in fact. Yeah. I was without Internet for a very long time. It sucked. But that's over, sort off, and I am back and ready to get this blog up and running again. And speaking of running why don't I kick off this return with a Marathon of Scooby-Doo?
