On this installment of Lucha Underground a Lollipop is used as a weapon.

Before we get into this weeks episode of Lucha Underground I want to take a second and talk about inter-gender wrestling.

I know that for a lot of people inter-gender wrestling is a tough sell. They say that it exposes the business or that it is unbelievable.

I can't disagree more. First of all the idea that anything can 'expose' the business is fucking stupid. There is nothing to expose. Wrestling isn't 'real'. We all know that. It's dangerous, painful, and amazing but not 'real'. I know that, you know that, everyone over the age of 11 knows that. There are numerous autobiographies, shoot interviews, and exposés that have taken all of the mystery out of Wrestling. So that is a hollow and pathetic condemnation.

As for women fighting men being unbelievable, well let's take a look at that. Rey Mysterio isn't much larger than the majority of the Diva's division, he is actually smaller than Charlotte, but people had no problem buying him facing and beating guys like the Big Show, Batista, and Randy Orton. But a woman facing a man is a bridge to far.

I don't buy that. There are so many movies and TV shows where women fight and beat men. No one has a problem with that.

What makes this all even stupider is that we are talking about Lucha Underground. A show where magic, aliens, and dragons are real. But a woman fighting and beating a man is unbelievable. Yeah, that totally makes sense.

Anyway this weeks episode opens with Ivelisse barging into Catrina's office. Ivelisse wants a shot at getting the Trio's titles back. Catrina tells her that there are no longer any automatic rematches. This means that Ivelisse, Son of Havoc, and Angelico have to fight for a shot at the titles.

Before we get to the first match I have to mention that Ivelisse and Catrina did a damn good job in this scene (I'm going to use the word scene instead of vignette. I think it's more fitting.). Both of the women delivered their lines well. Considering the scene that finished last weeks episode that is a nice thing to see.

The first match is Angelico, Ivelisse, and Son of Havoc versus Chavo Guerrero and the Crew.

The story of this match is that Ivelisse, Angelico, and Son of Havoc are now able to work as a team. They made quick work of Chavo and the crew.

Angelico has the best knee in wrestling, next to Shinsuke Nakamura. He hit Cortez Castro with an amazing high knee. He has one of the most impactful move-sets.

After the match there was a little dissension between Chavo and the Crew. Before anything could happen out came Texano wearing a singlet. My only experience with him is in Lucha Underground so I don't know if that's a look he's had before. Whether it is or it isn't I like it.

The thing about Texano is that he has a terrible case of  'wrestler forehead'. Considering how young the guy is, he must have done a lot of blading in his career.

After a good Johnny Mundo promo we get a scene with Cortez Castro and Joey Ryan. While neither of these guys are great actors Castro does a slightly better job than Ryan. I'm surprised by that. Ryan has a lot of personality and charisma I would think he'd have no problem acting. It's still early in the season there's plenty of time for him to improve.

Joey Ryan had his debut match next. The man stays in his wheel house. Sleazy. That's his thing and he sticks with it.  Matt Striker and Vampiro’s reactions to him were priceless, especially when he squirted baby oil down his trunks.

He is facing Cage here and Joey's has a great ‘oh shit‘ reaction after seeing him. That is the type of personality I was talking about.

I know that Cage is a face now but Striker is really pushing it. Since when is Cage the type of person that stands up for the little guy? Striker goes on to describe Cage as a regular guy. I like Cage, but at this point he is more steroid than man.

Joey Ryan uses his Lollipop as a weapon now. That makes no sense but I‘ll allow it because it‘s funny. This was a good match. It was short but Joey got in enough offense to show what he is capable of. Cage won but Joey got a bit of a rub from the match.

I'm going to go ahead and predict that Joey Ryan is in fact a dirty cop. He worked heel in his match and the interaction with Castro before it was very antagonistic. So, yeah, he's corrupt.

"Welcome to slam town bitch!" I didn't let TNA get away with that and I'm not going to let Lucha Underground get away with it either.

Johnny Mundo attacked Cage after the match. He was wearing an sweet pink coat. He speared Cage and than uttered the line I mentioned. It's not only a terrible line, but also a WWE rip-off. Lucha Underground and Mundo are better than that.

Rey Mysterio did an incredible job in his scene. He delivered his lines with a smooth ease. The guy could have a future in acting. I thought that Dragon Azteca (Jr?) was Rey Horus but now I'm not sure. When I saw Rey Horus in Evolve he didn't seem to speak English. Here Dragon Azteca has no problem with it. I'd do a search to find out but I really don't want to have anything spoiled for me.

By the way, Rey Mysterio doing Kung Fu is all types of cool.

Melisa Santos is still scared of Pentagon Jr. You have to admire that Lucha Underground, unlike WWE, has a memory span longer than one week.

The main event of the episode was Prince Puma vs. Pentagon Jr. This was a fantastic match. Puma is the best high flyer in the business today. There is no one close to him. He moves through the air with such finesse and grace. Not to take anything away from Pentagon. While he isn't a high flyer, he is much more athletic than his build would lead you to believe.

The match ended with a finish similar to the Zayn/Joe one. The difference was that Puma got his shoulders up at the last second and was able to get the win. Pentagon was in control at the end and had the match won but Puma snuck it out in the end.

This allowed Pentagon to look strong while letting Puma get the win.

Pentagon attacked the ref after the match which led to Puma taking him down. Puma had Pentagon's arm and could have broken it but didn't.

There was so much going on in this match. I didn't even mention Vampiro on commentary. He was pulling for Pentagon and the look on his face when Puma had his arm told the entire story.

The show ended with Sexy Star, having escaped from Marty the Moth, running into Willie Mac. Mac is furious at what has been done to Sexy star, I guess they were friends, and tells her he'll kill Marty. Sexy Star tells him it wasn't Marty but 'her'. The episode ends before we can finally meet Marty's sister.

This was a really fun episode of Lucha Underground. It's a lock for show of the week. I doubt Smackdown can top this.
