After Micro Machines and Penny Racers I thought I was through with car toys. I was wrong. When you delve back into your childhood many things pop up. Things you had long since forgotten. This is one such thing.This is The Animal.
The Animal was a very simple concept. It was a monster truck that was actually a monster. Sort of. You see the gimmick was that nothing could stop The Animal. Nothing could stop it because it had three sets of claws in each tire. It would use these to get over any and all obstacles. It was simple, silly, and awesome. I had one. I have read that these where RC cars. I am positive that is wrong. If I remember correctly these trucks simply moved forward. That was all they had to do. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galoob
Sadly there isn't much information to be found on this toy. All I have been able to gather is that it was by Galoob and there was a second version called The Claw. I wish there was more I could tell you.
I will say this. If there was ever a toy line that deserved to grow it was this one. I can only imagine how awesome a cartoon series would have been. Unfortunately that never happened. Instead we are left only with our memories and and a few commercials.
Next week I'll be talking about one more car toy. It should be the last. Unless I remember another long forgotten favorite.
