On this installment of Web Wednesday we are moving away from puppets to animation. Today I am going to talk about the funniest collection of Otaku on the planet Team Four Star.
Team Four Star is a group of American Anime fans who have made a name for themselves with the Dragonball Z Abridged show. The team includes members such as Lanipator, MasakoX, Vegeta3986, and KaiserNeko to name just a few.
Dragonball Z was and is an insanely popular anime based on the manga by Akrira Toriyama. The series is widely known for it's over the top fights and ludicrous story lines.
Team Four Star took that and ran with it. They took the show, re-edited the episodes, and re-dubbed the voices to create a hilarious parody. Team Four Star originally hosted their videos on Youtube but had their account suspended due to copyright issues.
Luckily they were picked up by That Guy With the Glasses and have been able to continue their work and increase their following.
They have dabbled with abridging other Anime series, however none have reached the popularity of Dragonball Z Abridged. While Team Four Star are arguably the best at what they do they did not start the craze. That accolade goes to another man. One we will talk about next week.
