Web Wednesday.

As you may have noticed Media Monday ended up getting posted on Tuesday. Mind you it was only a few minutes after midnight but it was Tuesday. My timing was off. If that isn't enough I completely missed Tat Tuesday. I don't have an excuse for this. My daily post are usually done the day of posting. I really need to change that. In fact I am going to do just that. There will be no Damn!! Thursday this week because I plan on working on this weeks Awesome Fat Guy of the Week tomorrow. This way I can get on a proper schedule. Now that my excuses and proclamations are out of the way let's get to Web Wednesday and my continuing attempt to diversify these post. Today we are going to speak about a Canadian man of Asian descent. So not a white guy which is good. Anyway let's take a look at Internet Personality Vang1us.

Vange1us with voice actor Gregg Berger.

Vange1us, sometimes spelled Vangelus, is in actuality Chris Ho. He is a toy collector, anime and tokusatsu fan, Transformers lover, and toy reviewer. Vang1us is also somewhat of an aspiring voice actor.  In fact he even won the opportunity to take place in a script reading at BotCon 2008 ( A large Transformers Convention) held in  voicing the character of Shockwave. Three years later at BotCon 2011's script reading he voiced 4 characters when professional voice actor Jack Angel fell ill.

Art by Derrick J. Wyatt.

Vange1us is most well known as a member of the Transformers fan community. He host the WTF@TFW Transformers podcast and has even had a drawing of himself featured in the Transformers Animated: The Allspark Almanac II book. The image was part of a collage of characters who may have appeared in Transformers Animated season 3. The collage was drawn by Derrick J. Wyatt who was the art director, lead character designer and color stylist for the show. Which means that on of the main people behind the show created fanart of Vange1us. As I said, the man is an important and beloved member of Transformers fandom.

That however is not how I found him. I was a fan of Transformers as a kid but have not kept up with it. I found Vange1us through his toy reviews. I know that sounds weird. Who would spend their time watching a grown man review Toys? Well, me for starters and a large number of others. You see Vange1us has a very unique style. As you can see from the video above. Vange1us uses creative camera work, comedy, special effects, and subtitles to create an engrossing and entertaining show.

This carries over into his Vlogs as well. Most people just sit in front of the camera and relate past events. Vange1us does this and includes elements of usual reviews as well. You have not seen and unboxing until you watch a man use special effects to open a package.

I understand that a toy review show may be a hard sell but as the old saying goes "A good comedian can make even the phone book funny." Vange1us is able to do that. He has even been picked up by ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com.

There is something else about Vange1us. He loves toys. I know that seems like an obvious thing to say. Why would someone do a show about toys unless they love them? What I mean is that you can feel his love. When you watch Vange1us you can feel how much he enjoys what he is doing. I like that. It's almost contagious. I remember the joy I would get from a favorite toy. In fact I am getting that again. I have recently fallen into a new mini obsession. I even spoke about it recently. The object of my obsession, Glyos, is a toy line that I found out about thanks to Vange1us. So not only does he produce a show I enjoy he is responsibly, at least partly, for my new hobby. You see what I mean? Contagious.
