Media Monday.
Time for another G.I.Joe post. This week we are looking at episodes 36 to 40. We have some really good stuff so let's get right to it.
G.I.Joe Episode 36
Worlds Without End Part 1.
This episode begins with Zartan and the Dreadnoks stealing a device called the Matter Transmuter along with the blueprints for the device. In doing so they trip an alarm. We soon learn that the device has the ability to change the matter of any item it is fired at. It can, conceivably, change the walls of a safe from steel to paper.
With a device that powerful Cobra would be unstoppable. Destro and Cobra Commander bicker over why Zartan was in trusted with obtaining the device. Destro feels it is too important to be left to Zartan but Cobra Commander counters by saying the job could only be handled by a master thief, which Zartan is.
Meanwhile a group of Joes are on surveillance duty. One of them, Steeler, is complaining about the life of a Joe. He is cut off when his radar picks up something.
Zartan and Flint are taking part in a hang-glider chase. During which Flint gets caught in a tree and Zartan gets shot down. Zartan calls the Dreadnoks for help as he loses the blueprints. The Joes retrieve the blueprints and destroy the Dreadnoks' vehicle. Zartan is able to use one of the weapons from the destroyed vehicle to cover his escape.
He and the Dreadnoks head to a hidden Cobra base with the Joes right on their tail. Inside the base Destro rubs this failure in Cobra Commanders face. Once Zartan and the Dreadnoks are inside the base it is revealed to be a giant rocket and quickly takes off.
The Joes. who were unable to get the Matter Transmuter but did hold on to the blueprints, are amazed by the rocket.
The episode then shifts to a train. Inside the train Flint and Lady Jaye are talking to a female scientist. It is explained that the outside of the train appears to be perfectly normal but the inside is a heavily armored lab. The scientist asks for the Matter Transmuter blueprints as a high ranking military official arrives.
Lady Jaye and Flint mention that the don't have the blueprints and that she should know that. The woman and the General unmask to reveal the Baroness and Zartan. They gas the two Joes and throw them from the train which was passing over a bridge. Lady Jay and Flint are able to hold on to the bridge as Airtight, Barbecue, Clutch, Footloose, Grunt, and Steeler arrive.
As they climb up the bridge Steeler is attacked by Copperhead. During the skirmish the Matter Transmuter goes off and changes the bridge into some type of delicate crystal. It might be ice. I can't be sure. Either way the bridge collapses under it's own weight and the Joes are covered in an odd gas which knocks them out.
We see the Joes waking from unconsciousness. They seem to be a completely different area. They look around and notice a slight similarity between where they are and where the were. They haven't moved the area has just changed. Gone is the river and lush forest. All that remains is a barren wasteland. Flint suggests that the area has been altered by the Matter Transmuter. Lady Jaye asks how long they would have been out for that amount of change to happen.
As the Joes try to find some clue as to what happened Steeler is bitten by a weird insect. As they continue to wander through the wasteland they are attacked by Cobra. With no cover in sight the Joes make a break for it. As they run for safety Clutch tries to contact Joe HQ but is unable to. They eventually stumble upon a cave, inside of which are some Joe vehicles. They get one working and all pile on board.
The vehicle doesn't last very long but it does leave the Joes close to a general store. During the trip we can see that Steeler is getting sick. At the General store, which for some reason has a large stock of Motorcycles, we learn that Cobra seems to hold quite a lot of power and that the G.I.Joe team are considered rebels.
Flint buys the motorcycles, seriously why would a mom and pop store have those, and the Joes head for their HQ. When they arrive they are shocked to see that it is shut down and is being watched by Cobra Troops.
The Joes take their base back and learn just how bad things are. Most of the Joes are Missing in Action and at least three are dead. To make matters worse the Joes communication satellite is gone.
The one shining grace is that they find a few working vehicles. With ground and air transport available they head out to find the few remaining Joes.
The first team made up of Barbecue, Airtight, and Flint, heads out by land. As they travel around a local city they grab a newspaper. Before they can look it over three cops arrive. Flint is shocked to see that the cops are in fact the Dreadnoks. The Joes learn that their base was under watch. With their vehicle stuck between a wall and a police cruiser the Joes hop on some motorcycles and try to give the Dreadnoks
In the air the other Joes, made up of Clutch, Footloose, and Lady Jaye, learn just how different things are. For starters the Lincoln Monument, Mount Rushmore, and the Statue of liberty have all be changed. They are now the Cobra Commander Monument, Mount Rushmore features Cobra Commander and Destro, and Lady Liberty has been replaced by a statue of the Baroness. On top of that, the United Nations is now one nation under Cobra. Lady Jaye realizes that they can't possibly be on their earth. She suggests that the Matter Transmuter must have teleported them to a different dimension. The Joes don't have much time to think about that as they are attacked by a fleet of Cobra Rattlers.
Back at Joe HQ Steeler, who is accompanied by Grunt, has completely lost it. He runs off screaming that the they must be dead. This is being watched by a woman and the Baroness. They speak about Steeler. He seems to be important to them.
I want to say that the whole 'parallel worlds' thing is out of place, which it is, but I am actually really interested in what is happening. I know that G.I. Joe isn't hard Sci-Fi and that it should probably stay from Multi Dimensional travel, but I love the idea that the Joes are the underdogs and have to fight a much stronger Cobra. Although I am a little unimpressed by the collection of Joes we have. Aside from Lady Jaye and Flint the rest are somewhat secondary. While I like Footloose the other Joes aren't that well fleshed out. We have Barbecue, Clutch, Grunt, Steeler, and Airtight. This isn't the best of the best. I will admit that I like the idea of one of the Joes being disgruntled. I'll hold off my full recommendation until the second episode.
Quote of the Episode.
From Flint.
"Laugh this off Happy Boy!"
Awesome Moment of the Episode.
After being shot out of the air Zartan is faced with a Joe tank manned by Steeler. Steeler tells Zartan that he has him outgunned. Zartan grabs a rack of missiles from a destroyed Dreadnok vehicles and fires them at Steeler. I don't know how he did it or how he wasn't burned but it was cool nonetheless.
The "Wait. What?" Moment of the Episode.
To demonstrate the power of the Matter Transmuter Destro shows Cobra Commander a video. This video is a Dramatization. We know this because the video has a flashing declaimer at the bottom. I assume this is in case Cobra Commander is stupid enough to wonder why they are stealing something if they already have it. To be honest I just like the idea that Cobra has an editing department that put that video together.
G.I.Joe Episode 37
Worlds Without End Part 2.
This episode starts with the culmination of the airborne dog fight from the previous episode. Clutch, Footloose, and Lady Jaye are able to fight off the first group of Cobra Rattlers but are then attacked by a second group.
Meanwhile Flint, Airtight, and Barbecue are being transported by the Dreadnok Cops. Barbecue causes the police cruiser to crash and the three escape.
As that is happening Steeler has wandered out of the Joe HQ and ends up in the middle of the wasteland with Grunt fast on his heels. The two of them are being spied upon by the Baroness who has plans for them.
In the city Zartan is berating the Dreadnoks for losing Flint, Airtight, and Barbecue. While Destro uses an energy net to capture Lady Jaye, Clutch, and Footloose.
The three free Joes find themselves in a slave labor camp. They attack a few Cobra troopers and use the captured weapons to remove the shackles around their wrists. Airtight jokes about how easy it was to escape as Zartan shows up. The three Joes have unwittingly fallen into a trap.
Flint, Airtight, and Barbecue find themselves greatly outnumbered but are able to hijack a Cobra helicopter and make a break for it.
Elsewhere in the city a Cobra soldier has brought Lady Jaye, Clutch, and Footloose to Cobra Commander instead of Destro. This is the first clue we get as to how strained the bonds of Cobra are.
Cobra Commander wastes no time in torturing the Joes. He begins by placing them in a giant centrifugal force machine.
In the wasteland Steeler is still running around like a madman. Grunt tries to calm him down but the two of them struggle and fall down a small hill. While down there they stumble upon three skeletons. Grunt learns that the skeletons are the remains of Clutch, Grunt, and Steeler. At seeing the remains of his alternate reality self Steeler goes even crazier.
As he runs off yet again they are greeted by a female Cobra officer. The woman talks the two into going with her so that the Baroness can treat Steeler's sickness.
At the Baroness's place we learn that in this world the Baroness is a double agent working for the Joes. Not only that but she and Steeler were a couple. I love this. As a huge Baroness fan seeing her as a good guy is a pleasant surprise.
Back at Cobra Commander HQ Lady Jaye, Clutch, and Footloose have been moved for a different type of torture. Cobra Commander has the three hanging by their wrists while robotic pythons slowly wrap around them.
At the same time Flint, Airtight, and Barbecue find themselves in the same trap Destro had used on Lady Jaye, Clutch, and Footloose. Footloose, thanks to Cobra Commander being distracted by the news of the other Joes capture, frees himself from the robot snake and sends it flying at Cobra Commander. The three Joes use this chance to escape.
Meanwhile the Baroness learns that Steeler and the Joes are actually from a parallel dimension. She is saddened by this but is willing to help the Joes nonetheless.
From there we move to Destro's HQ as Flint, Airtight, and Barbecue are presented to him. Before he can do anything to them the Baroness accompanied by Steeler and Grunt arrives. They convince Destro that Cobra Commander is moving against him and that they have joined his side.
The Baroness then tells Cobra Commander that Destro is planning to usurp his command.
As Destro and Cobra Commander lead their forces against each other Lady Jaye, Clutch, and Footloose are found by Flint and the Baroness. The group leaves as the first Cobra civil war is about to begin.
The Baroness and the Joes arrive at the place this all began and find the dimensional gate way. Steeler, Grunt, and Clutch decide to stay and fight alongside the Baroness. The others return home.
The episode ends with the Joes arriving home just as Duke and Doc were going to call the search off. Duke asks what happened to Steeler, Grunt, and Clutch but Flint tells him it's a long story.
This was great. It really was. I know it was not something that G.I.Joe should have tackled, the inter-dimensional travel, not Cobra being in power, but damn if it wasn't fun. The animation and voice work were solid, the story was strong, and the pacing was good. I was annoyed by Steeler at first, but his decision to stay in the parallel world was noble. I figured that Steeler would stay but for Clutch and Grunt to do the same actually surprised me. The only thing that I'd change, would have been to have the Baroness keep her glasses. I know that it's a silly thing to want but I think she looks better with them. I can't help it. I wholeheartedly recommend these two episodes. Watch them as soon as you can.
Quote of the Episode.
From Barbecue
"If he'd known we were coming he'd have baked a cake."
Awesome Moment of the Episode.
Steeler, Grunt, and Clutch, after learning their alternate world versions are dead, decide to stay and fight alongside the Baroness. It takes a lot of balls to stay in a world that is already ruled by Cobra when you are a G.I.Joe. This goes especially for Steeler who was questioning his commitment to being a Joe since the previous episode.
The "Wait. What?" Moment of the Episode.
This episode has dead Joes. They are the alternate Joes but that doesn't matter. We see the remains of Steeler, Grunt, and Clutch lying in the middle of the wasteland. Think about that. In a series where no one can shoot straight we see dead bodies, well skeletons, but that's close enough.
G.I.Joe Episode 38
Eau De Cobra.
This episode begins in a British museum. A man, who had disguised himself as a mummy, stalks the halls and attempts to photograph an ancient Egyptian tablet. He is interrupted by a security guard and decides to just take the tablet and run.
We move to the Antarctic as two men are listening to the news. They hear about the theft and learn that the man made a clean getaway. As they go about their business they are confronted by Firefly who takes extreme measures to hide his face. Firefly forces the men to take him to a plant they had found under the ice. He warns the men not to look at his face due to his compulsive need to remain unknown. One of them trips a silent alarm that alerts the Joes to their trouble. Flint sends Snow Job and Frostbite to check things out.
At the base Firefly has found the plant but is attacked before he can escape. The Cobra saboteur is able to out maneuver both Snow Job and Frostbite. He rendezvouses with a submarine and escapes.
As Snow Job and Frostbite talk to the two men they learn that Firefly had shot up the lab. In doing so he was covered in a radioactive marking dye. This allows the Joes to track him.
They follow him to Madagascar and a secret Cobra base. Here we learn that the tablet had a recipe for a love potion on it. The plant that Firefly had stolen was the last ingredient.
The Joes attack the base and retrieve the tablet. That is all they are able to get as Firefly and the finished potion are gone.
Flint and Lady Jaye figure out that Cobra Commander must be planning on using The Baroness and the love potion on someone important. Flint calls the Joe HQ and finds out from Short-Fuze that the worlds most eligible and wealthy bachelor is the shipping magnet Socrates Aertes. They also learn that he is in the market for a wife and is throwing a yacht party that weekend.
At the party the Baroness uses the potion, which is now a perfume called Eau De Cobra, to ingratiate herself to Socrates, much to the displeasure of the other women in attendance. As she makes her move Flint and Lady Jaye arrive. They sneak aboard the boat and crash the party.
Flint pulls the Baroness away from Socrates. As the two dance we see that Cobra Commander and Destro are on another boat watching the action.
The Baroness uses the perfume on Flint and convinces him to get rid of lady Jaye. He is just about to do that when a jealous Destro attacks him. The two have a knock down drag out fight that result with both of them being thrown overboard. This actually leads to a funny scene were Flint tells Destro that the Baroness is all his. Destro tells Flint that she may be more trouble than she is worth. All of which the Baroness hears. She tells Destro that they will have a talk about that.
After Lady Jaye and the Baroness have thrown life preservers to the two, Socrates reappears. The Baroness attempts to continue her seduction but is stopped by Lady Jaye who uses the perfume herself. The other women aboard see this and realize that the perfume is controlling Socrates.
While competing over Socrates, Lady Jaye and the Baroness lose the perfume. It travels all over the deck from one woman to another before falling overboard. As Socrates is swarmed by women cobra and Joe divers try to get to the perfume first. In the end the perfume ends up in the claws of a crab. I don't know what use he will get out of it but I'm sure he'll do better than Cobra Commander.
In the ensuing chaos the Baroness sneaks off with another woman. When she reappears Lady Jaye grabs her only to see that it is the other woman in disguise. The real Baroness has jumped overboard and is on the Cobra ship with Destro and Cobra Commander.
The episode ends with Socrates stating that he will just stay single.
I loved this episode. It was just too funny. The romantic hijinks and constant bumbling were a nice contrast to the previous episodes. It was good to see Destro and the Baroness mess up. In fact the only competent members of Cobra in this episode were Firefly and Cobra commander, if you can believe that. Even he was amazed at the stupidity around him. I also enjoyed the interactions between Flint and the Baroness and Flint and Destro. Everything about this episode brought a smile to my face. This is the perfect example of a fun story that was silly but not stupid. If you want a bit of fun then you can do not better than this episode.
Quote of the Episode.
From Cobra Commander.
"Morons, I have morons on my payroll!"
Awesome Moment of the Episode.
Flint bitch slaps Destro with a serving platter. This results in the platter be deformed and taking on the appearance of Destro's face.
The "Wait. What?" Moment of the Episode.
Short-Fuze, the Joes resident bomb expert, is a tabloid news junkie. I love that. It's these little pieces of character info that make this show worth watching.
G.I.Joe Episode 39
Cobra C.L.A.W.s are Coming to Town.
This episode begins with Dusty, Ship Wreck, and Lady Jaye transporting Christmas gifts to the Joe HQ. The gifts have been collected for the kids at a children's hospital. As the Joes talk about how many gifts they got they are attacked by Wild Weasel in a Cobra Rattler. They are chased into a small side road.
While the Joes are distracted Firefly secretly places a bag of toys in the Joes Holiday Wagon. After Firefly is done he calls off Wild Weasel and the Joes continue on their way to the Joe HQ.
Once there, after the toys are unloaded, Lady Jaye mentions to Duke that the base seems empty. Duke tells her that a lot of Joes have gone on vacation. Lady Jaye is worried about being short handed but Duke tells her that nothing can get past their automatic defense grid.
The Joes that are still on base then gather for a home made holiday meal cooked by Roadblock. Duke begins to carve the turkey giving a drumstick to Junkyard as Mutt walks of.
Mutt and Junkyard, who left a turkey leg to be with his master, walk around in the snow as Mutt tells the dog that he doesn't like Christmas. As he shares some of his childhood memories an odd sound can be heard. Mutt follows it to where the toys are being kept.
Much to his shock some of toys break open to reveal miniature Cobra troops and vehicles. I thought that these were just small robots, but boy was I wrong. The mini Cobra Troops attack Mutt and Junkyard. While the troops are small, there are enough of them to overwhelm Mutt and Junkyard. Before being completely overpowered Mutt hits the alarm alerting the rest of the Joes.
As the Joes assemble, the mini Cobra troops knock out the defense grid. This allows Firefly to enter the base and return the troops to their normal size with a gun shaped device. The now fully grown Cobra forces quickly take over the base, but not before the size changing device is partly destroyed.
Even outnumbered and outgunned the Joes still put up a fight. While they fight as hard as they can there s literally nothing they can do when the Baroness gasses them.
When the Joes come to, they are taken to Cobra Commander. It is here that we learn that the device is the Molecular Reducer/Enlarger and that Cobra used it to get the Joes vehicles and weapons. Cobra plans to attack a nearby city disguised as the Joes. Cobra Commander shows the Joes a video of Duke taking credit for the attack. This is to ensure that the Joes are fully blamed for the attack.
After seeing the video Lady Jaye asks what Cobra Commander did to Duke. The Commander says he did nothing. He calls Duke into the room and the Joes gasp as Duke appears to take orders from Cobra Commander. It turns out that this is just Zartan in disguise. The real Duke is being held elsewhere and will be taken along in the attack to make sure there is no doubt as to who instigated it.
With that said the Joes are taken to a large refrigerator unit where they hung along side a side of beef. The Joes quickly start to feel the cold. Luckily Shipwreck is there. He uses the nearby side of beef to free himself from the meat hook. While this is progress the Joes are still handcuffed and locked in the unit.
Cobra commander, after making sure his men will be able to use the Joes weapons and vehicles, decides to gloat over his captives. He enters the unit and places the key to the Joes' handcuffs on a wall assuming that the Joes will never be able to reach it. I have to stop and say that the best part of this episode is the look on Shipwreck's face when this happens. He is just amazed at the sheer luck and stupidity of this. It is priceless.
Shipwreck wastes no time in getting the key and freeing the other Joes. Meanwhile Destro has completed repairing the Molecular Reducer/Enlarger.
When the Joes arrive Destro attacks them with the device. He misses the Joes but does shrink Polly. The Joes overpower Destro and return Polly to normal size and leave. Unbeknownst to the Joes Polly appears to be growing larger.
With their weapons and vehicles in Cobra's hands the Joes use the ones left by Cobra.
Since Cobra has a head start it takes a while for the Joes to catch up. When they do they attack the imposters. The Joes in Cobra vehicles attack the Cobra troopers in Joe vehicles. During the battle Wild Weasel remarks that Wild Bill is able to do things with the Cobra Fang that one should be able to.
As the battle rages on a now giant Polly awakens. He takes flight, destroying the Joe HQ's ceiling in the process, and heads after the Joes.
The battle is going well but Lady Jaye is unable to shoot down Cobra Commander because Duke is with him. Cobra Commander shoots Lady Jaye down but she is saved by Polly.
When the Giant parrot attacks Cobra Commander's Sky Striker he ejects leaving Duke to fall to his death. The Joes defeat the Cobra troops just as Polly and Duke arrive.
The Episode ends with the Joes victorious and an upset Shipwreck looking at a Giant Fucking Parrot.
This was fun episode. It wasn't as funny or well written as the previous episode but it held it's own nonetheless. I wouldn't give it a strong recommendation but it does have a Giant Fucking Parrot, so take that for it's worth. Having said that it is a Shipwreck episode, so that gives it an immediate recommendation.
Quote of the Episode.
From Ship Wreck.
"Button your beak bird or there's a feather duster in your future."
The Awesome Moment of the Episode.
Junkyard, after seeing Mutt mope off, leaves a delicious turkey leg to keep his human buddy company. A dog's loyalty is always Awesome.
The "Wait. What?" Moment of the Episode.
Giant. Fucking. Parrot.
G.I.Joe Episode 40
An Eye for An Eye.
This episode begins with Flint, Lady Jaye, Recondo, Snow Job, Alpine, Airtight, and Bazooka are transporting an experimental jet. As you would expect Cobra attacks.
During the battle Lady Jaye shoots down a Cobra Rattler that crashes into a nearby cabin. Inside the cabin are a woman and her two children. After the crash the mother and her son.
Lady Jaye arrives and is told by the boy that his sister is still inside. She saves the girl and the three are taken to a hospital.
The father is met at an airport and is taken to the hospital. Once there he is approached by Flint. The man, whose name is Charlie, is not interested in what Flint has to say. After a doctor tells Charlie that his family is alright he sets out for revenge.
To do this he waits until night falls and sneaks into the Joe HQ. He is caught by Lady Jaye who is upset over the incident. She decides to help Charlie "Settle the Score". She locates what she believes to be an abandoned Cobra base off the coast of San Fransisco. As they leave Polly overhears this.
The two take a Sky Striker and head for the island. Flint realizes Lady Jaye is gone and attempts to locate her. Eventually Polly informs the Joes where she is headed.
As Lady Jaye reaches the base she is greeted by a Cobra Rattler. The Sky Striker is damaged and Lady Jaye attempts to bring it in for a landing only to be attacked by a new Cobra weapon. This weapon is able to drain the energy of anything it hits. So now the Sky Striker is not only damaged it is dead in the air.
Lady Jay glides the plane in for a water landing. She escapes the cockpit and saves Charlie. The two head to the shore and climb up a cliff face where they are me by Cobra Troopers. After a momentary escape Lady Jaye tells Charlie that she had planned to take him to an empty base. He says that nothing has changed for him.
After making sure that Charlie is safe Lady Jaye looks for a way to contact the Joes only for Major Bludd to capture her. Lady Jaye is taken to Cobra Commander where she momentarily escapes her captors and grabs Cobra Commander. A scientist knocks her out and she is taken away for interrogation.
Cobra Commander and Major Bludd subject Lady Jaye to some kind of mental torture. A device is placed on her head that causes her pain. Cobra Commander continues to ask her questions to no avail.
Meanwhile Charlie breaks into the base. He finds where she is being held and overpowers Major Bludd. The two head for the armory and load up on explosives. Now armed they go after Cobra Commander yet again.
During this the Joes arrive in force to save the two. Cobra Commander attempts to use his new weapon on the Joes but is stopped by Lady Jaye and Charlie.
Charlie follows the Commander as he tries to escape. He attacks Cobra Commander but ends up at his mercy. Flint and the Joes arrive and let the Commander escape to save Charlie's life. This upsets him at first but he realizes that the Joes are about saving lives not getting revenge.
The episode ends with Charlie and his family leaving the hospital. Flint asks if Charlie will leave Cobra to the Joes. Charlie replies that he will. For Now.
Before I tell you if this was a good episode there is something that I have to get off my chest. I have seen so many episode of this show where the Joes or Cobra attempt to steal or destroy a new weapon or technology from the other. Eventually the tech gets destroyed and the other side leaves. My problem is that they just assume that the other side wouldn't make another. They still have the blueprints. They made it once they can make it again. In this episode when Cobra Commander realizes he won't be able to steal the Joes' new plane he attempts to destroy it. He says that if he can't have it no one will. What's stopping the Joes from ordering another one? It just bugs me.
Anyway. This was a good episode. I liked that it showed how a regular person would view the Joes. They are heroes sure, but when your family is put on the line that doesn't matter. Charlie was well written even if his motivation was somewhat week. His family wasn't hurt that badly. They would all be fine and in light of that his house being destroyed, while sad, wasn't that great of a motivator. Maybe he wasn't given a huge motivating reason so that he could more easily accept the Joes. Either way it was a good episode and I liked his character. He wasn't written as whiny or overly antagonistic, which would have been an easy mistake to make. All in all this was a good episode. Not the best I've seen this week but it held it's own.
Quote of the Episode.
From Ship Wreck.
"Ah. Go fry your feathers, ya loud mouth bird."
The Awesome Moment of the Episode.
Cobra Commander actually does something. Sure it's nothing more than punching a civilian but it's more than he's done in any other episode. Not to mention that he talks Charlie into dropping his gun. This was as close to Awesome as the most incompetent 80's cartoon villain will ever be.
The "Wait. What?" Moment of the Episode.
Two episodes in a row we have a "Wait. What?" moment involving a parrot. This time Polly hears where Lady Jaye and Charlie are going and has to be forced into telling the Joes. No wonder Shipwreck doesn't like that bird. Then again maybe the bird didn't want to be a rat.
This was a good week. These five episode were all good. Some of them were great even. I enjoyed each on in it's own way. we had good comedy and good drama. What more can you want from a show?
Know your Joe.
Lady Jaye.
On this edition of Know Your Joe we have are first female Joe, Lady Jaye. She was first introduced in 1984 in the Sunbow cartoon. A year later she debuted in the Marvel comic. Lady Jaye is the Joe Team's resident Covert Operations Specialist. In an interesting twist Lady Jaye and Destro are distant relatives. This was revealed in the episode "Skeletons in the Closet". Lady Jaye has appeared in most of the animated Joe series. In the original series she was often teamed up with Flint. In the second series that relationship was ignored. She has been voiced by Mary McDonald-Lewis, Suzanne Errett-Balcom, and most recently by Nika Futterman. While the character did not appear in the first live action Joe movie she is set to appear in the second and will played by Adrianne Palicki. There have been eight versions of the character in toy form. On a personal note Lady Jaye is probably my favorite female Joe.
Cobra's Most Wanted.
Wild Weasel.
Wild Weasel is not one of the most known Cobra characters. He is, for the most part, a peripheral character. However he does make numerous appearances and is easily recognizable. The character is also interesting due to his rivalry with Ace, who was voiced by the same actor. While the character isn't a mainstay of the series, having only appeared in the original series (Voiced by Pat Fraley) and in the Valor vs. Venom CG movie (Voiced by Trevor Devall), he has had his moments. For instance in issue 34 of the Marvel series he and Ace engage in a Dog Fight that ends with a respectful salute from both parties. Wild Weasel has had six figures to date.
