Mom's Home. Also Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.
So my mom got home today. It may have only been a week but I missed her. She is doing alright and plans of going to NA meetings. I think she may have gotten to that point. You know, that point where you see what you have become and decide to change. I might be stupidly optimistic, but I have a good feeling.
Anyway. Let's get to this week's Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.
Ahh, Nick Frost. You have got to love that man. You know Nick Frost, right? "Shaun of the Dead", "Hot Fuzz", and "Paul" just to name a few pieces of his work. If you are still confused don't worry. I will enlighten you.
Nick Frost is an English actor, comedian, and screenwriter. Most people know him from his collaborations with Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright. Nick started out in corporate training videos. However it wasn't long before he got his big break by appearing in "Spaced" with Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright (behind the camera).
After "Spaced" Frost wrote and presented "Danger! 50,000 Volts!" a spoof on outdoor survival shows. He also co-wrote and starred in "The Sofa of Time" with Matt King. Soon after Frost would re-teamed with Pegg and Wright for "Shaun of the Dead" a comedy horror film. The film did very well at the box office and received positive reviews across the board.
After "Shaun of the Dead" Nick starred in the comedy sketch show "Man Stroke Woman". He followed that up by starring in the the science fiction sitcom "Hyperdrive".
Eventually he would once again re-team with Pegg and Frost for "Hot Fuzz" a homage to the buddy cop movies.
The move was released in 2007 and surpassed "Shaun of the Dead" at the box office.
Frost would continue to appear on British television and on the big screen. Appearing in shows like "Green Wing" and "Look Around You". He would also appear in the movies "Kinky Boots", "Grindhouse", "Wild Child". "Penelope", "The Boat that Rocked", and most recently "Attack the Block".
His most recent collaboration with Simon Pegg was the movie "Paul" which he co-wrote. The move which Frost described as "a love letter to Steven Spielberg" was yet another success.
Now all that aside let me tell you one of the main reason I am spotlighting Nick Frost. It is not because he is funny, immensely talented, and has a knack for surrounding himself with the right people. Nor is it because he is somewhat of a geek God. No.
Nick Frost is a man who will make fun of himself. He is a man with a self deprecating sense of humor. He is a man who knows that he is a fat guy and makes fun of that. He also a man who will choke you if you insult him. On the show "Top Gear" Simon Pegg told host Jeremy Clarkson that Frost almost killed a journalist in Birmingham for insulting his weight.
That brings a smile to my face. The man knows when he is being insulted and does not put up with that. A lot of fat guys just grin and bear it. He doesn't. That is why Nick Frost is the Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.
As always you can check out Wikipedia or Amazon. I would also suggest you try to find any of the Nick Frost, Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright stuff. It is all gold.
