Tuesday is For Tat.

Tat is an English colloquialism meaning crap you don't need. It is a little more exact than that, but that is the gist of it. For this entry and future Tuesdays, Tat means toys, and other fun things that you can hold in your hand.

For this inaugural Tat Tuesday, I will be looking back on one of my favorite toy lines. Mighty Max.

The cartoon wasn't bad either. That, however, is besides the point. Today we talk about toys. I love toys. I don't buy them anymore. Aside from the occasional Nerf gun.

When I say toys, I mean action figures. For me it was G.I.Joe. I loved those little guys. They were also pretty cheap. As far as action figures go. The problem came with the accessories.

As a child I wanted the best for my toys. I wanted them to have places to go and ways to get there. In other words Playsets and Vehicles. Which is what made G.I.Joe so awesome. There was no limit to the extra pieces you could buy. Could isn't the word. You see you had to have them. Or else your Joes were just fucked. This is true for all figure based toylines. Whether it be G.I.Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or hell even Barbie.

Now that is where the genius of Mighty Max came in. You see you didn't buy a Mighty Max figure. No you bought a mini Playset that had the figures right inside it. If that isn't cool, enough the Playsets also doubled as carrying cases. It was perfect. It didn't hurt that the toys had a cool/scary look to them.

As a child it was just too good to be true. One Mighty Max toy had everything you needed. Hell they could even work as dioramas. The best part though, was that boys weren't alone in this awesomeness. No girls had a similar product.

I can't really say much about those. I never had any, because I was born with a penis, and the two don't mesh.

Anyway back to Max. Now even the Mighty Max toys had their big picture items. The larger more expensive sets. I had one. I remember playing with it for hours. Each time finding something new.

Just looking at the picture floods me with memories of my childhood. Maybe it's just nostalgia clouding my memories. I doubt it. If they still made these I would buy them. I have no shame in saying that. Maybe a little. Anyway check out the links below to see the rest of the Mighty Max toyline.
