It's that time again. Time to take a look at the shocking, funny, embarrassing, and just plain weird. It's DAMN!! Thursday. To start off I'd like to you to take a good look at the above image. I have not been able to find it's original source, as such I do not know who the artist is. What I do know is that it is awesome. I love the idea of fast food icons beating the shit out of each other. It just tickles me.
The first item of the day is a confrontation on a Korean Train. Two older gentlemen get into an argument that then turns violent. You can read the full story here. If you want the abridged version keep reading. The man in the suit is riding the train with his wife, who is feeling ill and lying down. The man in the green shirt boards the train, carrying a number of items, and is upset by this. They argue and a punch is thrown. The crowning moment of the incident is when the man in the green shirt proclaims that his watch is worth $9,000. I don't know why he says that or what it means but hey it must a nice watch.
Sticking with Asia we move from something funny to something not. The image above shows Wei Yun a mentally disabled man. Wei can not talk or walk. He can only crawl. At the age of two he knocked a pot of boiling water over and almost died. Ever since he has been kept in a wooden cage. He is 23 years old. That means he has spent 21 years in that cage. I can't even begin to understand what that is like. The story was published here and is reminiscent of another one from some time ago. These two stories show how badly the mentally disabled/ill are treated in China. I can't say that all of these people are treated like this but the fact that there are two stories that are so similar paints a very sad picture.
Now onto to something a bit lighter. Raul Oaida decided to pay tribute to the, now defunct, space shuttle. He decided the best way to do this was to send a Lego replica of the shuttle into the stratosphere by way of helium balloon.
From something awesome we come to something horrifying. I know what you're thinking. "That's just a dog walking under a mosquito net." Well you're wrong. That is a dog but but he is not walking under a mosquito net. He is walking under a huge Spider's Web. Thanks to the recent flooding in parts of Australia thousands upon thousands of spider have relocated. That's right the spiders are taking over. If you are brave you can find more pictures here. Now if you will excuse me I have to go hide in a corner until the "Arachnophobia" flashbacks end.
One of the reasons I love trawling the depths of the Internet is to find people that are so fucked up, so sick, so far gone that I feel like a better person just because I am not them. Then I find someone who has overcome so much. Someone who shouldn't be able to do something but then not only does it but does it well. Kyle Coleman is that kind of person. He is a severely autistic man who is nearly mute. He is also a singer. A good one at that. Kyle, who has only ever said a few words, found a love and talent for music through musical therapy. You can read the whole story here. On April 2 Kyle's album "Kyle, Therefore I am" will be available at Amazon and iTunes. Or you can by the CD by going directly to www.kylecoleman.co.uk.
While I found the previous item uplifting I enjoyed this one more. The above video shows a fat kid standing up to a bully and then beating the shit out of him. It is a beautiful scene. Only one thing is wrong. With the bully on the ground his friends have to break up the fight. You can actually hear on of he little shits saying "That's the end of round one." No that's the end of the fight. The look on the bully's face says it all.
Do to the fact that I am an American I don't watch soccer. Which means that I definitely don't watch women's soccer. So, you can understand my surprise at the violence displayed in the above clip. The perpetrator, a woman by the name of Elizabeth Lambert, lashes out at her opponents as if she was in a street fight. It is incredibly entertaining. Also that hair pull actually made me say DAMN!!
Let's continue with woman on woman violence for a moment. I only follow one sport. Which is odd. Being that I grew up in Harlem, I should follow basketball. Since I am big, I should follow boxing. And being Puerto Rican, I should follow baseball. I don't. The only sport I enjoy watching is MMA. While I mostly stick to the UFC, I do enjoy other promotions. Especially those that feature women's MMA. One of these promotions is (or maybe I should say "was" considering the UFC's parent company Zuffa now owns it) Strikeforce. During the fight for the Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Championship the challenger, Ronda Rousey, not only defeated the champion, Miesha Tate, but dislocated her elbow in the process. It is a cringe worthy scene that is both disturbing and eye catching.
blading, juicing, gigging, or getting color. It is uses to make a match more dramatic. There are downsides of course. I won't get into the horrible scarring that this can cause. Instead I'll talk about what can happen when you blade too deeply. Actually I won't talk about it. I'll point you to the video above. In the video the late Eddie Guerrero does just that. After a chair shot to the head (a dangerous act in and of itself) from his opponent JBL, he blades. For whatever reason he cuts himself too deep. This results in a literal fountain of blood shooting from his head. If you are squeamish I urge you to not watch the video. If you aren't then all I can say is DAMN!! That's a lot of blood.
