Web Wednesday.

Now that my goal of diversifying Web Wednesday has been met we can move on to the majority of Web Entertainers. I.E. white guys. Although I can't be sure that today's subject is a white guy. You see Todd in the Shadows likes to hide his face. I can tell by his hands and the parts of his face that are visible that he is most likely Caucasian but I can't be sure. He might be of Italian or even Hispanic decent. There are many ethnic people who can pass for white. But I am reasonably sure that he is a white guy. Hell he likes pop music. There's nothing more white than that.

Speaking of pop music, Todd, whose real name is Todd Nathanson, specializes in pop music reviews. He has said that his fascination with pop music came from an incident in 2007. His car's antenna came off and he couldn't afford to fix it. Luckily the car was still able to pick up one station. That station played only pop music. Todd, in some weird form of Stockholm syndrome, began to love the music. Not all of it of course. As time went on he began to review the songs he had heard. First on his blog then on Youtube. Eventually two of the reviews were chosen as Awesome Blogs Of the Week. This new found popularity resulted in his becoming a part of ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com.

It should be noted that Todd not only reviews songs but the music videos as well. As such his reviews are just as "cinematic" as any other reviewers. For the most part he spreads his special kind of light on all types of Pop. That is the easily digestible forms of music that carry very little weight. As such Todd has reviewed songs from the likes of Lil' Wayne, The Black Eyed Peas, and Lady Antebellum. Although he does have his favorite targets. Mainly Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and most of all Chris Brown. He has also ventured into movie reviews. Specializing in music movie reviews. Sometimes doing so along with other TGWTG contributors.

Todd's review style is standard but highly polished. He highlights the ridiculous and the stupid aspects of a song and it's accompanying video. Where he diversifies himself is with his music. Each episode begins with him playing a rendition of that episodes featured song on his piano. There is something else that makes Todd unique. As you may have noticed from the above videos and pictures Todd hides his face. In his reviews he is always in the shadows. Hence his name. In crossovers, cameos, and at conventions he wears a mask. The reason for this being Todd wanting to keep a certain amount of anonymity. This has actually benefited him. With out facial expressions Todd has to go all out on his body language and voice. He has become a very animated and vocally interesting presenter.

Another aspect of Todd is his self deprecating sense of humor which is matched with a overly self confident character. The best example of this is Todd's stalker like obsession with Obscurus Lupa. He has been seen on many occasions expressing his unrequited love for Lupa only to be flatly turned down. All the while another woman pines for him. This dichotomy makes Todd an unbelievably funny character.

Todd has quickly become one of the most liked personalities on TGWTG and it is easy to see why. His timing, personality, and unique choice of material makes for a fantastic combination. When you watch him you can feel his love and/or disgust at certain songs. The emotion is palpable. I like that. Much like Brad Jones, CR, and Ed Glaser, Todd really feels what he does. That becomes infectious. It may seem that I am over analyzing what is, to be perfectly honest, a simple review show but it's not the show it's the host. When the host feels the material you feel it. Todd feels it.
