Web Wednesday.

In this edition of Web Wednesday I'll be talking about one of my favorite Internet Entertainers Oancitizen. Most of the Web shows I watch center around either things that I enjoy such as comics, toys, Sci-Fi, and genre films,or subjects that I am far removed from. These include Pop Music, Video Games, and Art Films. That's right the intelligent cinema found mostly in college film classes and art house theaters is Oancitizen's subject of choice.

Oancitizen is in actuality Kyle Kallgren a film student from Maryland who currently resides in DC. He has a bachelor's degree in Theater from the University of Maryland, College Park and is currently attending graduate studies at the American University's Film Program.

Art by Andrew Dickman.

With such a fine educational pedigree it was all but guaranteed that Kyle would end up posting videos on the Internet or at least if he did post videos they would have a intellectual bend to them. That may be why he stood out so quickly. He began reviewing in 2010 for Xtreme Network Online, after which he moved to Reviewtopia, before finally ending up on ThatGuyWiththeGlasses.com.

I don't know what this is from but I'm sure I'll see it again tonight in my nightmares.
Kyle's main show. Brows Held High, is a very unique beast. Not only due to it's unique subject matter, the most ridiculous and insane art films, but also due to Kyle's, almost overly, informative delivery. He uses his vast knowledge of Film to turn his reviews into amazingly pretentious and yet entertaining outings. That's not to say that he is above pointing out the stupidity inherent with such intelligent works. In fact Kyle seems to enjoy displaying the stupid hidden in these films. Considering that he chooses the worst examples of Art Films that's probably the point. Although his love for certain films, despite their flaws, is quite apparent.

Like most Internet Entertainers Kyle has branched out and created secondary series. The most interesting, to me, is Between the Lines. In this show Kyle performs a very intellectual analysis on films that don't call for that much thought. So far there have been only two episodes of "Between the Lines" but they do a great job of wetting the appetite for more.

Being a Theater and Film student Kyle has also posted film projects. These projects don't fall into the usual review format and are very interesting. Considering how short they are there is no reason to not give them a try.

Kyle has also taken part in some very funny crossovers. When he mixes with people like Obscurus Lupa and the Rap Critic hilarity is bound to occur. The Rap Critic crossover contains an amazing rap by Kyle. It isn't his first foray into music. He has performed a musical review and can be heard singing in other, larger crossovers.

Kyle is one of the new faces to the Internet Entertainer world and has the comedic timing, intelligence, and skill to be one of the greats. If he continues to produce content with his usual quality it is only a matter of time before he takes his place on the top with the likes of the Nostalgia Critic, the Cinema Snob, the Angry Video Game Nerd, and Spoony One. Things look good for us review show junkies.
