If you watch a lot of Internet shows then you know that many Internet entertainers create very over the top personas for themselves. Normally these personas are amplified versions of the presenter. Sometimes these personalities are so over the top so deviant that you wonder if any of it is real. Today's subject has portrayed a persona just like that. He does it so well that you find yourself wondering how much of it is real. Let's take a look at Bennett the Sage.

Bennett's main series is a Video Game Review show called, simply enough, Sage Reviews. On the show Sage looks at games from the past and reviews more recent releases. The reviews of the recent games are usually straight forward and do not rely on gags or visual effects. The show has lasted 124 episodes, so far, with no sign of slowing down.
Bennett, as would be expected, does not limit himself to one series. One of his more interesting sub series is FanFic Theater. I should probably explain what FanFic or Fan Fiction is before I go on. Simply put Fan Fiction is fiction written by fans using established characters and settings from pre-existing material. In this show Bennett read the worst examples of Fan Fiction. Sometimes these stories centered around members of TGWTG.com. The show, which ran for 25 episodes, ended on January 31st, 2011. Bennett has said that he no longer enjoyed the show and didn't want to do it anymore. Considering what he had to read I'm amazed he lasted so long.
Sage has worked on a number of other series. Most of which lasted only a few episodes. He stumbled upon gold with his newest show. Anime Abandon is a Anime review show and is my favorite of Bennett's work.
The show centers around Anime that was available in America during the 90's and displays some of the best and worst the decade had to offer.
Earlier I said that Bennett portrayed an incredibly over the top character. That is no more apparent than in his numerous cameos and crossovers. Which is actually how I was introduced to him. During these crossovers he has presented himself as anything from vaguely racist, sexually deviant, psychotic, and all around disturbing. He would appear and leave everyone feeling slightly uncomfortable. It made him stand out. Of all of the Internet Entertainers I have talked about he is the least subdued and it works for him. The above video is the perfect example of this. The "Ask that Guy" character is supposed to be the most sexually deviant and comically off putting character on TGWTG.com. That is until he meets Bennett the Sage.

While his over the top character caught my attention, Bennett's smooth delivery and hilarious subject matter made me a loyal viewer. You may think I overstated his persona, but take a look at his work and you'll see what I mean. When you do you'll find yourself wanting more. Bennett the Sage is one of the most entertaining men on the Internet and you should check him out.
