Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

Not one damn fish. Oh well. I enjoyed the break but now it's time to get back to doing what I love. Talking about fat guys. Awesome Fat Guys. The Awesome Fat Guy of the Week to be exact. This week we are looking at another romantic fat guy. Luther Vandross.

Gone Fishing.

So, I thought I would take a few days off from the blog. To recharge my batteries and come back better than before. To the people who have actually visited before don't worry. This is not goodbye. This is just "See You Later".

Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I hope all of you get to have a great day with your family and friends. Check after the break for some cool videos.

SciFi Saturday.

After last week's post I started to think about other cartoons that I could talk about. One of theme even featured power armor. It was one of my favorites as a child and still holds a place in my heart. So let's take a look at "Centurions: Power X Treme".

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

I love Christmas. I adore it. I am not a practicing Catholic. I was baptized and had first communion but as soon as I was old enough to make the choice I quit the church. Even though I went to a Catholic grade school and high school I was never very religious. As far as I was concerned organized religion was for a certain type of person and I was not that person. As such I always saw Christmas as a family holiday. I know that it has it's roots in pagan Rome and pagan Winter Solstice celebrations and as such I have no problem celebrating it. My favorite aspect of Christmas is Santa Clause. How could it not be? He is the most beloved Fat Guy ever. So seeing as today is Friday, the last Friday before Christmas at that, there was only one man for me to talk about today. That brought up a problem. Where do I start? What do I talk about? Where do I end? Well I came up with an answer. Check after the jump for this week's Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

Damn!! Thursday.

Thursday posts are the hardest for me. I rack my brain trying to find or think of something that would elicits a Damn!! This week was especially bad, until I remembered the Honey Badger. I know that sounds like an odd subject but it isn't. Trust me.

Web Wednesday.

On this installment of Web Wednesday we are moving away from puppets to animation. Today I am going to talk about the funniest collection of Otaku on the planet Team Four Star.

Tat Tuesday.

After talking about toys for the past couple of weeks I thought it would be fun to look at a different type of tat. Something bigger and much more extravagant. So from toy trucks covered in lights we go to real trucks covered in lights. Let's delve into one of the more interesting worlds of Japanese subculture. The Dekotora.

Media Monday.

Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart at the River Styx.
Last week we talked about "Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengeance" the first movie in the "Lone Wolf and Cub" series. So let's look at he sequel "Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart at the River Styx".

Something Sunday.

A "Traditional Family". I suddenly have a craving for white bread.

I had planned to post short stories on Sundays. However I haven't gotten around to writing any new material. As such there have been no Sunday posts. Until now. This is the first "Something Sunday." I'll try to post something of interest on Sundays from now on. This first post about my experience with the "Traditional Family".

As you may know New York has recently passed a law allowing same sex marriage. Something I am all for. Some do not agree with me. Many have said that this would be the end of the "Traditional Family". When I was growing up in Spanish Harlem there was only one "Traditional Family". The Melendez family.I am going to take this opportunity to talk about them. If you are interested check after the jump for what I have to say. I'll even sweeten the pot a little. There is a video of a nontraditional family as well.

SciFi Saturday

Sometimes when you are a child you come across something that you instantly like. You enjoy it for what it is and when it ends you let it go. Then as time goes on you find yourself liking it more and more. Until you finally look back on it and actually love it. That's how I feel about Exosquad. Let's take a look at it.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

Barry White working hard to get you laid.

After spending so much time on Awesome Fat Comedians I thought it would be a nice change to move back to the world of music. Since I spoke about Funny Fat Guys, Powerful Fat Guys, and Athletic Fat Guys, I thought it would be a good idea to talk about the Romantic Fat Guy. There were a few choices for this but one man stood head and shoulders above the rest. Barry White. The man responsible for more nights of passion than any cheap wine. Mr. "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe." himself.

Web Wednesday.

On this week's "Web Wednesday" we are going to take a look at yet another puppet themed web-series. Let's check out Transylvania TV.

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Tat Tuesday.

Last Tuesday, I mentioned that there was one last toy car that was important to me as a child. Let's take a look at it. It's Christmas and the Hess truck is here. As a kid I only ever had one Hess truck. My family were not car owners. Living in New York and having little money we usually used mass transit. Even with that I somehow had a Hess Truck. I loved it. It was unique among my toys. While I had Micro Machines and the Animal, this was one of only two large scale realistic car toys I had. The other was an old die cast fire truck. I don't know where it came from or where it went. By the time I received the Hess Truck the old fire truck was gone. I did not mourn it for long. I though it would be cool to look through all of the Hess Trucks and give my opinion of them. So check it out after the jump.

Media Monday.

Today, I want to talk about one of my favorite series of samurai movies "Lone Wolf and Cub". The movie is based on a Manga written by Kazuo Koike and drawn by Goseki Kojima that was first published in 1970. It ran for 6 years and cover 28 volumes. I have yet to read the manga. My only exposure to the story and its characters come from 6 movies from the mid 70's.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

We have reached the end of another week. As such we deserve a reward, and what reward would be better than an Awesome Fat Guy. This week we look at the hilarious Will Sasso. I do need to preface the following post. Will Sasso used to be much fatter. He lost a lot of weight a number of years ago. Even with that he is not a thin person. I still consider him a Fat Guy even though he is more aptly described as a big guy.

Damn!! Thursday.

It's time for another Damn!! Thursday. Before we get to the videos I just wanted to talk about the above picture. That is, what I assume to be, the mug shot of Anthony Miranda. It was taken after Mr. Miranda, a 24 year-old convicted felon, attempted to mug and car jack a 6 foot 2, 250 pound MMA expert. I wouldn't say that either the story or picture are truly Damn!! material, but I need something to start this post. Also I love the look in his eyes. That is a look that says I need a new line of work. Anyway on to the main course.

Web Wednesday.

I thought we would continue with puppets for the next couple of weeks. So, this week we are looking at the work done by Michael Bennett.

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

Tat Tuesday.

After Micro Machines and Penny Racers I thought I was through with car toys. I was wrong. When you delve back into your childhood many things pop up. Things you had long since forgotten. This is one such thing. This is The Animal.

Monday, December 5, 2011

Media Monday.

On this Media Monday we will be looking at Sonny Chiba. "Who is Sonny Chiba?" you ask. Well check after the jump to find out.

Saturday, December 3, 2011

SciFi Saturday

Last week I spoke about one of my favorite Sci-Fi novels. I love Starship Troopers, I do, but it is not my favorite Sci-Fi novel of all time. In fact it isn't even my favorite power armor novel. No, that honor goes to Armor by John Steakley.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

This week we are sticking with the world of comedy for out Awesome Fat Guy of the Week. I wasn't going to highlight another comedian so quickly but fate intervened. Sadly this week saw the death of a very funny man. Today I pay my respects to Patrice O'Neal.

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

Damn!! Thursday.

It's that time again. Time to show you something that makes you go "DAMN!!". Check after the jump for it.

Web Wednesday.

On this edition of Web Wednesday I want to introduce you to Bob and Carl the Sci-Fi Janitors.

Tat Tuesday.

After talking about Micro Machines last week I remembered something. I remembered the only other car toys I cared about. Penny Racers.

Monday, November 28, 2011

Media Monday.

For this Media Monday, I want to cast a spot light in "Posse". A great western that just happens to have a mostly black cast.

Saturday, November 26, 2011

SciFi Saturday

Today I want to talk about one of my favorite books of all time. A SciFi masterpiece written by my favorite author Robert A. Heinlen. Starship Troopers.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

This week we are looking to the world of Stand Up comedy for out Awesome Fat Guy of the Week. There are many to pick from. Men like Bruce Bruce, Gabriel Iglesias, and Frank Caliendo just to name a few. All of whom are more than worthy for the honor of Awesome Fat Guy of the Week. But this week I am talking about someone different. I am talking about John Pinette.

Thursday, November 24, 2011

Damn!! Thursday.

Today, we will be looking at an act featured on India's Got Talent. The Indian version of the worldwide "hit" TV show. Like many talent shows not every act sings or dances. No, some of them do things that make you say "DAMN!!".

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

Web Wednesday.

Today I want to talk about my favorite Internet personality. Brad Jones. Film maker, Exploitation movie fan, show host, and owner of an amazing voice.

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

Tat Tuesday.

My mom is home. Sadly things are not as happy as they should be. Her psychiatrist fucked her over. Which would be bad enough as is, but to add insult to injury the detox center at Beth Israel is shit. Firstly there was very little security, secondly the staff were incompetent, and the other patients were disgusting. Especially the male patients. One of whom decided to masturbate in front of my mother. This was not a productive experience. The worst part of all of this is that my mother's psychiatrist refused to prescribe her an anti-anxiety medication. A medicine she has been on for he better part of 15 years. While it is true that she has over indulged with them recently, that doesn't change the fact that she has extreme anxiety. I don't know what she is going to do. I'm just glad she is home. For better of for worse.

Anyway. Micro Machines.

Media Monday.

My mom should be coming home tomorrow. Which is good. I haven't been doing so well recently. There isn't anything really wrong. I just have been kind of down. I worry to much. It makes it hard for me concentrate on things. My mind has been wandering more often than usual.

Today is Monday. Which means it is time for me to spotlight some form of media. I have decided to spotlight one of my most favorite people ever. Who just so happens to be an actor. So it still fits. I should warn you, if you continue to read this post, you will never be the same again. The amount of Awesome that is waiting for you after the jump may be too much to deal with. Click at your own risk.

SciFi Saturday.

Just a quick update. My mother is doing a little better. I spoke to her this morning and she wasn't crying. So that's good. What isn't good is that my cousin (who has been a great deal of help during all of this) called to speak to her. It turns out she was unaware of what had been going on. I had to explain everything. I can barely keep it straight in my own head. Saying it out loud was much more difficult than it should have been.

Anyway, today is Saturday. From now one I will be spotlighting a form of Science Fiction every Saturday. Whether it be a movie, TV show, book, or even a beloved character. So let's get to it.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week

A woman called me today. She was calling to tell me mother was okay. This disturbed me greatly. I thought something horrible had happened. As it turns out my mother was just very emotional. So much so that she didn't think she could talk to me on the phone without crying. It made me feel great. No, not great. That other thing. What is it? Oh yes, I remember, terrible. I feel terrible. There is only one thing that will make me feel better. An awesome Fat Guy. Luckily today is Friday.

Thursday, November 17, 2011

Damn!! Thursday.

Today's post will be a short one. I don't really feel all that great. I am worried about my mom. She is doing detox for anxiety meds. Except things aren't going very well. It is going to be hard this time.

Moving on. Today is Thursday. I had a problem coming up with a them for today. My love alliteration limited my choices. However I overcame. And so I present to you Damn!! Thursday. Damn, as in the exclamation of awe. Every Thursday, I shall attempt to present something that will make you say Damn. Check after the jump for the first example.

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

Wednesday is for Web-Entertainment.

Second verse same as the first. So my mother is in Detox again. She didn't relapse though. Which is good. However, her Psychiatrist has said she is now addicted to her anti-anxiety medication. I won't argue with that. That doesn't make this any easier. Sometimes I just feel like I'm not really here. Or anywhere for that matter. Not to sound dramatic. I just want to see the end. Not of life. No just the end of this shitty spell I seem to find myself in.

Anyway on to more interesting things. Today is Wednesday and that means Web-Entertainment. I will spotlighting either a website, webshow, or web personality every Wednesday. Check after the jump for this weeks choice.

Tuesday is For Tat.

Tat is an English colloquialism meaning crap you don't need. It is a little more exact than that, but that is the gist of it. For this entry and future Tuesdays, Tat means toys, and other fun things that you can hold in your hand.

For this inaugural Tat Tuesday, I will be looking back on one of my favorite toy lines. Mighty Max.

Monday, November 14, 2011

Monday means Media.

So I have been neglecting this blog recently. Except for Fat Fridays. This got me thinking. I should do a similar style post everyday. Now I am no fool. I really doubt I will be able to do that, but it's worth a try. And so we come to out first media Monday. I will try to post a review/spotlight on a form of media every Monday. Mostly movies. Let's how long I can keep that up.

If you hadn't guessed today we will be looking at the 1998 movie "Drive".

14 days Sober. AFGW.

It has been a week since my mom got out of detox. She is 14 days sober. It has been a little tough in spots. Her anxiety has been acting up. Even with that she is doing really well. I am so proud of her. There isn't much else to say. Except that today is Friday and that means it's Awesome Fat Guy of the Week. Check after the jump to see who it is and why.

Mom's Home. Also Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

So my mom got home today. It may have only been a week but I missed her. She is doing alright and plans of going to NA meetings. I think she may have gotten to that point. You know, that point where you see what you have become and decide to change. I might be stupidly optimistic, but I have a good feeling.

Anyway. Let's get to this week's Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

Detox

My mother signed herself into detox today. She relapsed a few weeks ago. She ended up back on Vicodins. It wasn't long until she ran out. When her connection failed her, she decided to try pain management. The idea was that the doctors would prescribe something to help with the withdrawal.

The doctors told her that if she didn't agree to in patient care she would be blacklisted. This was not much of an option. So this morning she went into the hospital. I didn't go with her. It was easier that way. During the course of the day I have spoken to her a number of times. Each time she sounded worse. It kills me that she has to go through this on her own.

There isn't much I can do. I can't even visit her.

Well all that aside today is Friday. Which meant it is time for the Awesome Fat Guy of the Week. Check after the jump.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week

I like the blues.Well actually I like B.B. King. I enjoy the blues. I don't seek it out, but when I hear it I enjoy it. Except when B.B. King is playing. There is something about the way he sings and plays that connects with me. I could listen to the man for hours.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week

So it is Friday. And that means it is time for the Awesome Fat Guy of the week. I know I missed last week, but I explained that.

So let's move on.

This week I will be talking to you about Sammo Hung. So click the jump and lets get started.

No end in sight.

My mother went to the doctor yesterday. She was in pain from her most recent fall. The doctor prescribed her Percocet. The pharmacist apparently was out of that and instead gave her Vicodin. Which I now realise makes no sense. A pharmacist doesn't just give out unprescribed class A narcotics. Which means she lied to me. Nothing new there.

Of course she has been abusing them. She took ten yesterday. My psychiatrist was pushing me to call her old connection. She believed that if I could convince him to not sell to her anymore, things would get better. That is a load of bullshit. She can these things anytime she wants.

I told her I was going to flush them. She told me that if I did that I would not be her son anymore. She said she would never talk to me again. I still want to do it. I know she would get over it. I won't though. I am too much of a coward. It makes my skin crawl to have them near me. I want nothing to do with them. All of my resentment for my mother, all my fears, all of the negative emotions I have from the past few months just coalesce into hate. I hate an inanimate object.

Do you have any idea how silly that is. I feel like a fucking idiot. And yet here I am. I wonder when I will reach my breaking point. Do I have one? My doctor tells me I have a problem expressing aggression. Maybe when I finally break it will all come out at once.

Taking a Knee.

So

I, missed Fat Friday. I am sorry about that. But, I have a good reason. Yesterday my mother fell. I know. Again? She was on her way to a woman's group therapy session. Her first time, I might add.

Anyway she missed her bus stop. Which meant she had to walk a few blocks. The streets around the area she was headed are highly damaged. That added with her arthritis is just a recipe for disaster.

So she took a tumble. A bad one. Her knees are both bruised (badly) and scraped (mildly). After the escalator incident this put me at wit's end. I spent most of the day worried.

The final bit of news was the possibility of that my mother might end up wheelchair bound. Not paralysed but unable to walk very well or very far.

Escalating Anxiety.

I went to see my psychiatrist today. My mother cam along because we were going to Target after. She ended up sitting in on my session. It was funny she had much more to talk about than I did. I think it was a good thing. She has a lot of issues to get through.

I found it funny how interested my Doctor was in her. She complimented my mother on how much better she looked. I enjoyed the session. I hope my mother got something out of it.

I am sure my next session will be all about her.

After that we went to Target. It was long and boring. I enjoyed it. Until the end. While going down an escalator my mother slipped. She almost fell down the escalator. She was wearing the wrong glasses.

I was terrified. I heard her call my name and the image of her broken body flashed into my mind. Luckily she only stumbled a bit. It could have been so much worse.

The funny thing is she had to back up to return something. I told her to take the elevator. She did not. It was as if she just flat out told me to go fuck myself. It was like "Fuck You I got This." I made her promise me that she would stay away from the escalators.

I have little hope she will keep this promise.

Tomorrow is Friday. That means Fat Friday. Look forward to it.

Roving Minds and Burning Wagons.

Sometimes I crave distractions. I find it very hard to focus on any one thing. Even now while I write this I am watching videos at http://cinemassacre.com. I don't why I have this problem. I used to be able to focus on one thing at a time. I think sitting in front of a computer makes it worse. Here I am in front of a machine that allows me access to limitless information. I almost feel guilty not taking advantage of that.

Whether that is the reason or not it really is a chore feeding my craving. I sometimes feel like Johnny 5. Of course there are so many things I should be doing. Things that I need to do. And yet they fall to wayside.

My mother did not fall off the wagon. She lit the damn thing on fire. She went to the dentist last week. Her dentist gave her a prescription for Vicodins. In the course of two days she took 27 pills. She came clean to me and handed the rest over to her therapist.

I wasn't mad. I know that sobriety isn't something that just happens. It takes time. I takes work. She is trying. I can't ask for more than that.

Fat Friday.

Welcome to the first edition of Fat Friday. On Fat Friday I will either spotlight an awesome Fat Guy or post a section from my (still in progress) book F.A.T.R. Following All the Rules: A Guide to Being A Big Bad Man. F.A.T.R. is a mix between a rule book and self help book for fat guys. It teaches you how to be better, look better and live better. In the most superficial ways.

So on to the first Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.
