Tat Tuesday.

A few months ago I did a post on the old Battle Beasts toy line. At the close of the post I mentioned that Diamond Select had plans to release a new line of Battle Beasts. In fact they had a countdown clock ticking off the days until the return of the line. That clock ran down a few days ago. As such let's take a look at just what is on the horizon for the Battle Beasts. Let's call this Battle Beasts 2: Electric Boogaloo.

I skipped two weeks of Media Monday. I am sorry about that. But, I'm back so let's get to the next 5 episodes of G.I.Joe.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

I recently stumbled upon a pair of British TV personalities called the Hairy Bikers. These two men have presented a number of food/travel shows. Over the last few weeks I have sought out their past works and have thoroughly enjoyed them. So I decided the best thing I could do, would be to grant the honor of being Awesome Fat guys to them. So, with out further ado, the Hairy Bikers are the Awesome Fat Guys of the Week.

Damn!! Thursday.

It's Thursday. You know what that means. Let's get to it. The above picture is a baby parrot. It's supposed to look like that. Doesn't make it any less ugly. Sadly it's been a slow week. Not much to look at but I'll do my best.

Web Wednesday.

If you watch a lot of Internet shows then you know that many Internet entertainers create very over the top personas for themselves. Normally these personas are amplified versions of the presenter. Sometimes these personalities are so over the top so deviant that you wonder if any of it is real. Today's subject has portrayed a persona just like that. He does it so well that you find yourself wondering how much of it is real. Let's take a look at Bennett the Sage.

Tat Tuesday.

As a kid the toys I gravitated to were simple action figures, mainly G.I.Joes, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and random comic book figures. As such I missed out on a lot of the more interactive/creative toys. Such as the Creepy Crawlers that you see above. I actually thought that the Creepy Crawlers were a 1980's creation but I was wrong. Let's take a look at the surprisingly long and deep history of the Creepy Crawlers.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

I've been fat all my life. Which means that before I grew into being a Fat Guy I was Fat Boy. In fact my mother was once approached by a man who wanted to put me into a Fat Boys music video. She declined due to my shy nature. A missed opportunity. Thanks to that I've always remember the trio of rappers. So today I am focusing my post on the Fat Boys. The question is are they Awesome Fat Guys? Let's find out.

Damn!! Thursday.

The above picture may not stand out but you should click it. If you do you will read a funny and possibly infuriating detention note. Is it worthy of Damn!! Thursday? Probably not, but I found it funny. I can assure you that this week's Damn!! Thursday will deliver on the shock and awe. Don't believe me? Click through and find out.

Web Wednesday.

In this edition of Web Wednesday I'll be talking about one of my favorite Internet Entertainers Oancitizen. Most of the Web shows I watch center around either things that I enjoy such as comics, toys, Sci-Fi, and genre films,or subjects that I am far removed from. These include Pop Music, Video Games, and Art Films. That's right the intelligent cinema found mostly in college film classes and art house theaters is Oancitizen's subject of choice.

Tat Tuesday.

While doing research for last week's M.U.S.C.L.E. post I came across a very similar toy-line. A line that I don't remember ever hearing about and never had first hand. Which, after taking a look at the toys, is rather sad. The series, called "Monster In My Pocket", follows in line with the small unpainted, non-poseable, and collectible figures I spoke about last week. In fact this series is often cited along with M.U.S.C.L.E. as a major influence by the makers of O.M.F.G., S.L.U.G., and Z.O.M.B.I.E.S.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

I've been on the Internet for a long time. During the years I have seen things. Some have been disturbing, some have been depressing, and some have been disgusting, but very few have stayed with me. Yesterday I saw something that I can't just shrug off. I won't go into detail but it broke my heart. Having said that I need something to make me smile. Maybe a Comedian. No I need something more than that. A really funny Comedian. No, more than that. A really fat, really funny, Comedian. No, even more than that. I need a Comedian who is so fat and so funny that I would have to describe him as an Awesome Fat Guy. Good thing today is Friday. This edition of Awesome Fat Guy of the Week is on Gabriel Iglesias.

Damn!! Thursday.

So I just recently hit 10,000 page views. Don't know why to say about that except DAMN!!. So, yeah it's Thursday, which means it's time to search the Internet for the weird, interesting, funny, and disturbing. Let's see what I found. Image from here.

Tat Tuesday.

Due to my new found interest in independent toys, thanks to the amazing Glyos series, I have become more aware of small static figures. A lot of smaller "Art Toys" fall into that category, due to how easy and inexpensive they are to make. The funny thing is I have a history with this type of toy. Actually most people my age, well at least guys, do. Growing up in the 80's there was a line of small non-posable figures that were everywhere. They weren't insanely popular but they were omnipresent. That line was called M.U.S.C.L.E. and that is what I will be talking about today.

Another Monday another 5 episodes of G.I.Joe. I don't have anything to put here so let's just get to the episodes.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

Another Friday is upon us. As such it is time to highlight yet another massively awesome man of mass. Or as I have taken to calling them, the Awesome Fat Guy of the Week. Originally I had planned on speaking about a comedian but, as usually happens, plans changed. This Sunday is Wrestlemania 28. The WWE inducts people into it's Hall of Fame the day after the big show. Hence today's subject. Yokozuna.

Thursday, March 29, 2012

Damn!! Thursday.

Another Thursday and another trip through the weird, upsetting, disturbing, and funny parts of the Internet. The picture above is just one of many taken by Miles Morgan who has risked life an limb to photograph the worlds most active volcano. You can find more here. Now that the primer pic is out of the way let's get to the main event.

Web Wednesday.

Now that my goal of diversifying Web Wednesday has been met we can move on to the majority of Web Entertainers. I.E. white guys. Although I can't be sure that today's subject is a white guy. You see Todd in the Shadows likes to hide his face. I can tell by his hands and the parts of his face that are visible that he is most likely Caucasian but I can't be sure. He might be of Italian or even Hispanic decent. There are many ethnic people who can pass for white. But I am reasonably sure that he is a white guy. Hell he likes pop music. There's nothing more white than that.

Media Monday.

Anyone who has followed my G.I.Joe retrospective (All None of you) would know that I failed to make a post last Monday. I apologize for this. I have been feeling under the weather. The cold  that I've been on the verge of getting for the last couple of weeks has lead to a very unbalanced sleep schedule. To be perfectly honest I have also been a little down. Well, not down exactly. I'm not depressed, or anything. I've just been a little out of it recently. Having said that I am attempting to get back on track. So let's get to today's post on Episodes 16-20 of G.I.Joe.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

This week's edition of Awesome Fat Guy of the Week is going to be a little different. Most of the men I spotlight here are entertainers. Whether they be actors, musicians, comedians, or professional wrestlers. In fact the only guys I can remember talking about who weren't entertainers are Akebono, Eric Esch, Kim Schimitz, and Louis Cyr. Even then Akebono, Eric Esch, and Louis Cyr were all athletes, of a kind, whose abilities were enjoyed by the masses. Which leaves Kim Schmitz. An entrepreneur who lead an interesting life. Today's Awesome Fat Guy of the Week is similar in that regard but has lead a much less public life. Which means that this post will be light on biographical information. With that said let's get to the main event. This week's Awesome Fat guy Lynn C. Thompson.

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Damn!! Thursday.

It's that time again. Time to trawl the Internet for anything that can elicit an exclamation of "DAMN!!". The above picture features monkeys in masks. I don't like monkeys and masks just make things worse. Now the monkeys can fuck with you without worrying about being identified.  I'm not going to waste any more time so let's jump right into it.

Web Wednesday.

Welcome to the last "Diversity" Web Wednesday post, unless I think of another person or group of people that fit in the non-white dude group. Today's Web Entertainer is The Blockbuster Buster. Another Hispanic, possibly Puerto Rican, reviewer. He may be the most divisive person I have spot lighted here but I feel he deserves my praise.

Tat Tuesday.

Last Tuesday, while talking about 50 cent machines, I mentioned rubber band guns. That passing mention got me thinking. I have always loved things that shoot. That is to say Nerf blasters, BB guns, and anything that fires a non lethal projectile. The most easily accessible is the rubber band gun. This accessibility has made the rubber band gun, not only, a child hood favorite but a cubicle warfare standby. Let's take a look at the different kinds of rubber band guns.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

It’s  that time again. Time for the Awesome Fat Guy of the Week. Not too long ago, I spoke about Will Sasso. I mentioned that Sasso was the funny fat guy from MADtv. What I may not have said was that Will was not the first nor last funny fat guy. The first was Artie Lang, a man I know too little about, and the third was Frank Caliendo, who is this week’s Awesome Fat Guy. Which means that yes, I have fallen back on the funny fat guy list. What can I say? There are so many of them. It’s just my go to list.

Damn!! Thursday.

I love the above picture. I know it's just a pic of a boy and a chicken (Possibly a Rooster either way we will talk about a boy and his Cock later) but the kid has so much attitude. I just see that picture and think "Damn!! that a bad-ass kid. Which works since today is Damn!! Thursday. So lets take a look at all the shit that got to me this week.

Web Wednesday.

On my continued quest to diversify Web Wednesday I have come to the first Hispanic individual to be featured here. Today we are talking about Angry Joe. A Puerto Rican from Texas, of all places. Before we get into the post proper I have to get something off my chest. Puerto Ricans usually come from one of two places. Puerto Rico and New York. Of course there are Puerto Rican all over the country but those are the two main populations centers. Texas is more known for Mexicans. So any Hispanic person from Texas is automatically thought to be Mexican. That's what I thought. I was actually happy to be mistaken. It's nice to see a fellow Puerto Rican make it as an Internet personality. Although spending so much time on Joe's race is a bit of a disservice to him as an entertainer and reviewer. So let's just move on.

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

Tat Tuesday.

Last week, while talking about Pogs, I mentioned that one of the reasons they were banned was the "gambling" aspect. That is to say you could play for keeps and win something. Which is, of course, the definition of gambling. What's funny is that gambling is a large part of a kids life. In fact childhood hobbies can be directly equated to forms of gambling. For instance Pogs are Dice, Card Games are Poker, and there are even slot machine equivalents. Which brings me to today subject. Bubble toy vending machines.

Media Monday.

It's that time again. Time to take a stroll down nostalgia lane and take a look back at the most American of cartoons, that happened to be animated by Koreans. G.I.Joe. This week I'll be looking at episodes 11 through 15. So with out further ado let's get to the good stuff.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

As a fat kid you are always looking for things that fit you. Clothes, friends, hobbies, and heroes. While other kids could look at any number of athletes and action stars, your choices are much more limited. There was one stand by though. One sport and group of athletes that you could call upon. Make no mistake about this. Fat kids, boys to be exact, always think of Sumo Wrestlers. I’m not saying that we watched Sumo Wrestling and wanted to learn about the sport. No, what I am saying is that the Sumo Wrestler was a big guy who was strong, confident, and fought. He was what we wanted to be. When boys talk about fighting and wanting to learn about martial arts the fat kid falls back on Sumo. Sure he could say Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, or any number of other martial arts that don’t evolve triple back flips, but Sumo was the obvious choice.  Which leads me to this weeks Awesome Fat Guy of the Week. A true giant in the world of Sumo. Akebono.

Damn!! Thursday.

It's that time again. Time to take a look at the shocking, funny, embarrassing, and just plain weird. It's DAMN!! Thursday. To start off I'd like to you to take a good look at the above image. I have not been able to find it's original source, as such I do not know who the artist is. What I do know is that it is awesome. I love the idea of fast food icons beating the shit out of each other. It just tickles me.

Web Wednesday.

Well, we have reached another Wednesday. Which means it's once again time to spotlight an Internet something or other. This week we are looking at another Internet reviewer/personality. And taking another step on my journey to diversify the people featured in these posts. Today's subject is Justin Carmical AKA JewWario. As you can guess by the name he is of Japanese decent. Actually that might not be right. Let me check my notes......Sorry my mistake he's Jewish. It is an understandable mistake when you dive deeper into the man's interest.

Tat Tuesday.

When I was a kid there weren't many collectable card games. By the time Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! came out I was in high-school and past the age of their attraction. I did collect comic book cards as a kid but there was no game to go along with the collecting. Most of these card games are considered to be nothing more than fads. That is arguable, but what is true is that there was a similar fad that I did fall into. I, and I am slightly embarrassed to admit this, was  a fan of Pogs. Pogs were small round pieces of cardboard or other heavier materials. The idea was that they can be collected and played with. I liked Pogs. I was good at the game. It was my fad. So I thought Pogs would be perfect for "Tat Tuesday". So let's take a look at the history of this, sadly, short lived fad.

Media Monday.

On a non-G.I.Joe related note my Mother, who I have spoken about before (in case you are interested she is still off the pills), cut her finger quite badly. She had to go the hospital and get 5 stitches. The Doctors were concerned that she may have cut some blood vessels and could lose the tip of her finger. The worst part of this is that  I was there when she cut herself. I saw that she was holding the knife wrong and though about telling her but didn't. I feel somewhat responsible. Anyway onto the first official ongoing episodes of G.I.Joe. The more I watch this show the more I want to start collecting the figures. Considering how far they have come in quality and inexpensive they are it's hard not to.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, at least to anyone who has read my Awesome Fat Guy of the Week posts, but I am a bit of a Professional Wrestling fan. When I was a kid in the late 80’s and early 90’s it was the time of bigger than life personalities like Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior, but as I grew up the world of Professional Wrestling changed along with me. As I reached my early teens the WWE, then the WWF, began what would later be called the Attitude Era. During these years nothing was off limits. It was years of profanity, scantily clad women, and over the top violence. As great as it was nothing is forever. Most of the personalities from that time came out of it rather well. There were a few whose careers would never be the same. One of those men, at least until recently, was Mark Henry. He is the Awesome Fat Guy of the Week. Let’s take a look at his career and find out just what makes him deserving of this, highly sought after, praise.

Web Wednesday.

Today I continue on my quest to diversify Web Wednesday. As I have said before most of the people I spotlight during these posts are white men. Which is fine. There is nothing wrong with that. I just wanted to make it known that there are people who are not white guys that are on the Internet and are entertaining. Which brings me to the Rap Critic. Who, as you may have guessed, is not white. He also happens to be funny and talented which makes him perfect for Web Wednesday. So let's get to it.

Monday, February 27, 2012

Media Monday.

I did something that I promised myself I would never do. I missed an “Awesome Fat Guy of the Week” post.  I shouldn’t have. I didn’t really have a reason. I just couldn’t get myself to work on it. Sometimes being lazy can bite. Anyway today is Monday and that means it’s time for G.I.Joe. This week I am looking at the third mini-series that also happens to be the first five episodes of the ongoing series. So this is this is our first taste of the series itself. It tastes the same as the previous mini-serious but more “ongoingy”.  Let’s just move on.

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Damn!! Thursday.

I missed doing Web Wednesday yesterday. I am sorry about that. I was a little under the weather. I'll try to make sure not to do that very often. Anyway it's Thursday. Which, of course, means it's time to spotlight things that make you say "DAMN!!".

Tat Tuesday.

In the last edition of Tat Tuesday, while talking about the Yak Bak toys, I mentioned Power Penz. It was my intention to do a full post on the pens themselves but I hit a bit of a snag. There isn't that much information available on them. I can't find much about the history of the toy series but I did find a lot of pictures. So I figured I would just take a look at some of them and give my impressions on them. I did find an old blog that was dedicated to Power Penz. To be honest I did appropriate a few of the pictures from that blog. Anyway on to the good stuff.

Monday, February 20, 2012

Media Monday.

This week we are looking at "G.I.Joe The Revenge of Cobra" the second G.I.Joe miniseries. It debuted in 1984 and like the first mini-series was written by Ron Friedman. It saw the return of all of the previous characters and a number of new ones.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

Today, I hit a milestone for this blog. I reached 5,000 page views. That is something I am really proud of. A lot of those views have come from my Awesome Fat Guy of the week posts. I love doing these posts. Not only do I get to show some love for a Fat Guy but I also learn even more about them during the research. Having said that let’s get to today subject John Rhys-Davies.

Thursday, February 16, 2012

Damn!! Thursday.

It's that time again. Time to trawl the depths of the Internet to find something, anything that would make you say "Damn!!". This week we have a nice mix of bad and worse. Before we get into that let's take a quick look at the above picture. Someone found a purple squirrel. I don't have anything to say about that. I just found it kind of funny.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Web Wednesday.

My quest to diversify Web Wednesday has hit a detour. Instead of spotlighting a Web Personality who isn’t a white guy, I am going to talk about Telly Award winner Ed Glaser, who is a white guy. I can’t help it. Ed has a new series on the horizon. The series called “Ninja the Mission Force” co-stars Brad Jones and looks to be all kinds of fun. What can I say Ed Glaser and Brad Jones in ninja outfits takes precedence over diversity.

Tat Tuesday.

Not too long ago I talked about the best Christmas I ever had. It was the year I got a Game Gear. A few years later I made a small mistake. I got caught up in the Virtual Boy hype. My parents, doing what all good parents do, broke their collective asses to get me the over priced piece of crap. As you can guess, by my calling it a piece of crap, the Virtual Boy did not live up to the hype. Luckily I asked for something else as well. This second item was much cheaper and really just an after thought. It was a Yak Bak. I loved it. It single handedly saved that years Christmas.

Monday, February 13, 2012

Media Monday.

While reviewing the "Lone Wolf and Cub" series I was thinking about other possible subjects. My first thought was the Zatoichi series. While I do love the Zatoichi movies I wanted to try something different. I finally settled on G.I. Joe. I plan on reviewing every episode of every animated G.I. Joe series. This will probably take me a year or more. Chances are I'll sprinkle in a few other reviews here and there. So with out further ado let's get to "G.I. Joe A Real American Hero" the pilot mini-series that aired in 1983.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

Every week I have to ask myself a question. What makes a man an Awesome Fat Guy? Firstly he must be fat. That is the easy part. The hard part is on deciding what makes someone Awesome. Normally I look at how talented or successful the man is. Other times it comes down to just how likable or interesting he is. This week’s Awesome Fat Guy falls into the later category. While he was successful and talented, in his own right, I chose him because he is beloved and remembered in spite of his limitations. That to me makes Tor Johnson the Awesome Fat Guy of the week.

Thursday, February 9, 2012

Damn!! Thursday.

It's that time again. Time to find something that will make you say DAMN!! Or at the very least is interesting, disturbing, or funny. Speaking of funny the above picture is real. The book "Space Cat on Mushrooms" is part of the Space Cat series written by Ruthven Todd. Nothing like a little weirdness to start this post off. Now, let's get to the meat.

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

Web Wednesday.

On this edition of Web Wednesday I am doing something a little different. Instead of spotlighting any single person or Website I thought I'd share a few random bits of fun. Like the picture above. Where else can you find a Kitten Gangster but the Internet. Check after the jump for more Internet goodness.

Tuesday, February 7, 2012

Tat Tuesday.

I have a confession. I have always loved vans. That may not sound bad but you have to remember that vans have become synonymous with a certain type of person. You have your Serial Killers, Rapist, Child Molesters, and Guys who live in Vans down by the River. Which means that Vans get a bad rap. Even with that I still love them. Especially when they have awesome murals on the side. Which is what this post is about. Check after the jump for some really cool pics.

Monday, February 6, 2012

Media Monday.

It’s that time again. Time for Media Monday and the final installment in the “Lone Wolf and Cub” series. “Lone Wolf and Cub: White Heaven in Hell.” I really can’t wait to finish this series of posts. I really enjoy these movies and telling all of you about them. So check after the jump for all the info.

Awesome Fat Guy of the Week.

I once read that a plan is just a list of things that don’t happen. My plan was to begin work on this post yesterday. That way I could have it up early. That didn’t happen due to an Internet outage. Luckily that problem was fixed. Which  means that while this post may be up later than I waned it will be posted none the less. So let’s get to this weeks Awesome Fat Guy of the Week, Ron White.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

Web Wednesday.

As you may have noticed Media Monday ended up getting posted on Tuesday. Mind you it was only a few minutes after midnight but it was Tuesday. My timing was off. If that isn't enough I completely missed Tat Tuesday. I don't have an excuse for this. My daily post are usually done the day of posting. I really need to change that. In fact I am going to do just that. There will be no Damn!! Thursday this week because I plan on working on this weeks Awesome Fat Guy of the Week tomorrow. This way I can get on a proper schedule. Now that my excuses and proclamations are out of the way let's get to Web Wednesday and my continuing attempt to diversify these post. Today we are going to speak about a Canadian man of Asian descent. So not a white guy which is good. Anyway let's take a look at Internet Personality Vang1us.
